dubai2000
Dee, yes, Al's new horns do get rave reviews and should sound pretty interesting. The Cobreflex were indeed my first attempt to change horns and despite some questioning comments when those were first mentioned here I liked them more than the K-400. But the better (to my ears that is!) remeins enemy to the good - and being curious I managed to purchase the EV-120 from a fellow forum member. Although the Cobreflex had already changed the sound of my speakers, I still wasn't prepared for the effect the EVs (or rather University horns in my case) have had. My first reaction were: great how smooth Khorns can sound; how effortless does the music float into the room and 'separate' from the speakers. I guess to the second phenomenon one gets used to quite quickly, so that it soon becomes perhaps less noticable, but the smoothness of sound keeps me smiling again and again - to put it briefly: getting those horns was as essential as adding the SVS sub or purchasing Khorns in the first place! Kudret, no way of fitting those into the existing Khorn top - I should think. I simply removed the top section completely, added a wooden 'base' to the bass section and placed the horns, crossover and JBLs on top. So WAF could be improved on [], but the sound......is to die for (IMO) []. I shall add a pic taken in Cobreflex days, so just visualize the different horns and you're done. Wolfram Wolfram, Thanks for the pics of the cobraflex, too. I don't know if you've noticed another current thread on the forum on the "University Classic". It uses a cobraflex horn in it's construction. I don't know if that is stock or a user mod, but interesting to see it in the pics.
3dzapper
Dee, Take my word for it. Keep your eye on the ALKhorn. All the others sound like horns. If the two bit copies I conjured up in my workshop are any indication, do it. And the ALKs keep the WAF intact,[A] Rick Edit: [A] This is supposed to be an "angel" ? Looks more like "Who blew the fa** in church?" to me. [:|][:|][A][:|] I know, it's an old joke.[]
dubai2000
Rick, I am sure Al's horns ARE interesting/good products, but to claim that ' all the others sound like horns' might just be slightly one-sided. But then I have not listened to Al's development, so what do I know [] ? Dee, no, I had not seen the thread you've mentioned. I'll check it out, though. lorcoll
Wolfram, can you explain the sonic differences between the two horns: the Cobraflex and the SM120?
