Allan Songer Posted January 9, 2006 Share Posted January 9, 2006 One of the last of the great hard-boppers is in town all week at the Bakery with his NY Quartet (Benny usually picks up a local rythym section for these LA gigs). A gifted composer ("I Remember Clifford," "Along Came Betty," "Stablemates," "Killer Joe," "Whisper Not" and many MANY other tunes which have become standards), a brilliant soloist and a great storyteller. Anyone in the Socal area who loves music should make EVERY effort to get out and hear Benny this week.
