D-Rex
Are the HDMI cables at BestBuy any better than the HDMI cables on eBay? Where else online can those cables be purchased? Thanks, D

D-Rex
Bluejeanscables seems to be recommended alot and I completely forgot about partsexpress. So, is there anything that would make one pair of HDMI cables better than any other? Gold plated, etc.? I probably only need the standard 1-3 meters but what if I needed 10 meters, is there one better than the rest at a good price? D
atomicskiier01
Correct me if I'm wrong (an I very well could be), but I don't think that gold plating can improve a digital signal, so that shouldn't sway your decision. My friend went to Best Buy and a salesperson told him to buy a gold plated USB cable becuase the data will transfer quicker because it is gold....are you kidding me? Professor.Ham.Slap
Actually, a lot of cables on eBay are complete crap so yes, the Best Buy cables are a lot better. I say this from experiance as I bought a DVI to HDMI cable from an eBay seller. It only functioned part of the time (the signal would break up periodically and the TV would not be able maintain a connection for extended periods). Now, that said, you definitely don't need Monster nor do you need to shop at Best Buy. As mentioned earlier Parts Express carries lots of different interconnects and I have a set of Blue Jeans component cable which I am really happy with. Gold does conduct electricity better than copper. Does it move it faster? Definitely not. Is it necessary to have gold plated USB cables? Once again, no because even standard cables have more than enough quality to communicate between USB devices.
formica
Correct me if I'm wrong (an I very well could be), but I don't think that gold plating can improve a digital signal, so that shouldn't sway your decision. The gold is only used to plate the connector. This is done because gold does not oxidize like copper, silver, aluminium, etc... while still being a good conductor. Silver coloured connectors are frequently stainless steel. ROb
SteelerFan
I agree on checking Parts Express. I got my Dad a Dayton Audio HDMI cable to hook the new DVD player I got him for Xmas to his new plasma TV and it's doing a fine job. The cable is gold plated and inexpensive. If you go to BB, get the AR not the Monster.
