3dzapper
I recieved the following email from "eBay". Curious, by clicking on the auction a prompt to a sign-in screen appeared instead of the auction contents. Cutting and pasting the auction number brought me to a closed auction for cloth diapers bearing another name. I reported it to spoof@eBay.com. This is just FYI.Rick .AOLPlainTextBody { margin: 0px; font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif; font-size: 12px; color: #000; background-color: #fff; } .AOLPlainTextBody pre { font-size: 9pt; } .AOLInlineAttachment { margin: 10px; } .AOLAttachmentHeader { border-bottom: 2px solid #E9EAEB; background: #F9F9F9; } .AOLAttachmentHeader .Title { font: 11px Tahoma; font-weight: bold; color: #666666; background: #E9EAEB; padding: 3px 0px 1px 10px; } .AOLAttachmentHeader .FieldLabel { font: 11px Tahoma; font-weight: bold; color: #666666; padding: 1px 10px 1px 9px; } .AOLAttachmentHeader .FieldValue { font: 11px Tahoma; color: #333333; } eBay sent this message to an eBay valued member.Your registered name is included to show this message originated from eBay. RTTR
hopefully you did not sign in with your username and password? This is why I love GMail, it catches all fake eBay emails and throws them into the trash and also makes it impossible to click the link that otherwise would be clickable in other email programs/services. On a side note, I get fake eBay emails in my junk box almost weekly.
Jay481985
eprompter (www.emprompter.com) is sorta like microsoft outlook, it is free and only reads text (when the fake emails come in they usually have very weird text or writing due being foreign and cannot download so not prone to viruses like outlook). It checks every 5minutes to daily you set the parameters and it works with the usualy yahoo, msn, hotmail, gmail etc etc. Have more then one account it can have like 10 all in one. jheis
Report them all. I don't know if ebay/paypal actually does anything about the phishers, but if you don't report the phishing attempts, there's not much they can do. James
