Stands for Heresy Speakers

Hi, I am new to this forum and have a question regarding my Heresy speakers in my home office. I have searched this forum as well as Google and have not found the information I need. I have a 2 channel system in my home office consisting of my PowerMac, a Fisher 500B receiver, and a pair of Heresy speakers. Mostly, I listen while sitting at my desk. I would like some attractive and sturdy stands to elevate these speakers about 24" from the floor. Any guidance would be most appreciated. Please email me at philipandjo@mac.com if more info is needed. Thanks in advance. Philip

Welcome, Philip! I just wanted to let you know that you don't have to put your email address in your post. Folks can email you by using the button at the bottom of your post.

Regarding the stands, I need to build a pair as well, for the bedroom. Lots of opinions on the best way to go, from light and sturdy to massive, lead shot-filled pillars. I'll be interested in the responses, too. Good luck!

Philip,

Before you get the stands, you might want to try a "mock up" stand first.

If you raise the cabinets 24in off the floor, the bass response will be definitely compromised.

I am not sure of the geometry you are dealing with but there are elevated risers (Factory or DIY). These will raise the cabinet just a few inches (modest effect on the bass) but nicely aim the high freq at the listener (about a 15 deg angle as I recall - don't quote me on the specific angle).

Good Luck,

-Tom

There are two online retailers that usually come up first on a google

search: www.racksandstands.com and

www.standsandmounts.com; also, www.partsexpress.com has a few, and I am

sure there are many, many other sources. Raising a 40+lb

Heresy to 24" will need a heavy and wide base to compensate for such

topheaviness.

Hi Tom, Thanks for the information (thanks to all who have responded as well). Bass is not a problem as I am in an old house on piers. I actually have the bass dialed back a bit. I have the factory risers installed. The purpose for elevating them is that my left channel speak is about 6 feet in front of my desk. In my opinion, the sound quality improves by elevating them. Perhaps 24" is too much as they are currently elevated about 14" which improved imaging. I might have located some stands in the Audio Advisor magazine. While I am at it, do y'all have any upgrade ideas for my speakers. I just received some new crossovers from a very nice guy who sells them on eBay. My model # is H-WO-12 and serial numbers are 11M857 and 58. Are this 8 ohm or 4 ohm while I am asking? These are driven by a newly refurbished Fisher 500B tube receiver.
