m8o
As the titles says, I just won two eBay auctions for a pair of La Scalas and a pair of Heresys! (both from the 90s, in black) Whoo Hoo to me!!! [<)] ...just wanted to share... [] Now I gotta figure out what I'm going to do for a certer ... which is governed by whether I'm going to do either DPL or LCD Rear Projection, or front Projection with a Screen. For the former, I'd do one center Heresy between the subs on either side with new LCD/DPL TV sitting on a shelf just above; for the latter I 'could' do that too or go one more La Scala hung on the wall behind the screen. However, I can't really swing the $$$ for new and you can't usually find one La Scala for sale... Question to all? My 'old' 3-gun cathode-ray tube Rear Projection TV is sitting between two M&K 150-watt Subs, each containing 2 12in. drivers in a push-pull configuration. When I crank DVD concerts the TV has -noticable- waving of the image side to side due to the intense bass that is shaking the tubes inside of the TV. So what is likely to be affected by bass more? - new LCD projection? - or DPL projection? I thought DPL would be worse with the thinking the tiny mechanical mirrors whould get shaken; but someone in Best Buy suggested LCD since it has more mirrors in it. ...anyone have and informed response in this field? Thanx much.
MarkBK
Congrats on the winnings - GREAT start to a Heritage HT!. As to the problem...vibration so great causing that kind if waving may not be any better on anything other than front Projector. How about trying to "isolate" or dampen the current RPTV - it's scary to think what else might be getting stressed by all the low level physical vibration - bound to cause other problems long term. sunburnwilly
No problem with either the dlp or lcd . You will find , as I did , that a Heresy center is just a stopgap . What your going to need is another LaScala or a Belle at center eventualy . My center Belle is the stand for my "50 dlp . Congrats on the score ! jbsl
http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/689492/ShowPost.aspx There industrial La Scalas on ebay but they are a pair this is a single. Not sure if you are near Dirk or not. $375 is about what I paid for my single center La Scala. My tv is a Sony 34 inch so it is just a tad high but okay. It is not shielded but the only place I can see any affect by the magnet is the top left corner of the tv and is along the edge. When I play movies I do not see it. It is hard to see but I made a grill for it and when the lights are off you can not see the center La Scala.
jbsl
I actually raised my center LS by about 3 inches causes my other LS are on 6 1/2 inch risers. So with out the riser it would probably work with a 42 inch but not sure about a 50. Is the Belle the same hight as the LS? If so then you can do that. I had BEC build me a new A/AA crossover but I am thinking about contacting Klipsch and see if they could send me the crossover upgrade kit for one La Scala. My other La Scalas are 2004s and even with the new BEC crossover I can hear a difference when playing music. For movies it is great matches perfect. Almost blew myself into the back wall the first movie I watched with it, The Incredibles. I had the center set on large with the bass turned up and the first explosion scared the living begebies out of me and I did not even have the sub on. jbsl
Not yet but probably today or tuesday. I still need to order the Blackgate thing. I ended up buying a pair of Welborne Moondogs from a forum member also. Never tried SET amps so it will be interesting.

Ya. maybe I can sell the other to Coytee for his center's needs. []
