fredd
I just got a pair of Heresy HWO with cane grills off ebay. The serial numbers are 8444142 and 8444143. Are these Heresy 1's or 2's? I think the serial number indicates 1984. Is that correct? Did a search here but couldn,t find an answer. They sound wonderful but am already wondering about tweeks. What would you guys recommend I do first? Thanks in advance. This is a great forum. Fred
ricktate
On the 1s the drivers are mounted from back of motor board and on the 2s the drivers drop in from front and you cant take back off of speaker.Rick
ironwoods
Hey, 1st things 1st. Listen to 'em for a couple months.[] If they're an original Heresy, new caps might be worth a shot, as they're 20+ yo. If you're gonna hang around a while, fill out/in your "System Profile" in the "Control Panel" at the top of the page. What speakers have you had in the past? Kriton
Hey, welcome. The Klipsch main site says that the H2 was built from 1985...so I suspect that yours are H1's - now the tricky part...depending on when they were actually made, they might be franken-speakers meaning they have a unique speaker to crossover arrangement (using some parts form the H2 while in the H1 configuration). As was said before, the H1 is most easily identifiable from teh fact that the drivers are mounted from the inside, so the tweeter, squaker and woofer have are recessed (if looking at the speaker cabinet from the front) and the back panel where the label is is screwed into the case (you will see the screws around the perimeter of the case) - The H2's on the otherhand have all of the drivers mounted flush to the from motorboard and you will see the screws for each component aroudn the edge of the tweeter, squaker, and woofer AND the back panel where the label is is glued on, so there are no screws... There are always exceptions to every rule, but those are the generalities...I suspect from what the website said that you have H1's - the interior configuration (crossovers, dampening material, etc.) are very different between the models too... That is my understanding and i hope that answered your question? K
fredd
Hi, Thanks for the replies. It appears I have Heresy 1's. Drivers are mounted on the inside of baffle with removable back.
Malcolm
Yes, you have Heresys. With that date, they likely have a K-53-K (or maybe a K-52-H) squawker driver which is the same as used in the Heresy II.
