fletcherkane
Hi guys, I've posted about Phil Keaggy several times in the "Best Guitarist" Thread's, but no one seems to know who I'm talking about. Well, I posted a 6 minute video of Phil on my little web site. (56k warning...it is a pretty big quicktime file.) Enjoy it. Phil is performing the song Cajon Pass from his "Freehand Album"--one of his best albums. This song is Fingerstyle acoustic. http://homepage.mac.com/fletcherkane1/Menu1.html
Marvel
Keaggy is one of the very best, even if Jimi Hendrix didn't say so! Love PK's guitar work, and he is a genuine. nice guy too. I think my favorite album is Lights of Madrid (the cover of which you use for your avatar right now), but the one you mention I honestly haven't heard. I'll track a copy down and have a listen. codhead
Thanks for posting that video. It plays back a lot larger if you save it to disk. Man, my Taylor didn't sound anything like that when I played it earlier tonight. [:$] Phil Keaggy is quite the guitarist. Think I'll do a little CD shopping myself. Marvel
PK normally plays an Olson. I've seen some used ones going for about $10 lately, which is far too rich for me. Bruce
fletcherkane
He also plays Langeans guitars, which are hand made locally--Holland Michigan...They are a beautiful instrument.
D-MAN
He's missing a finger or two, too! I liked him even back in the 70's. DM
Marvel
Dana, PK's family lived on a farm when he was younger. He was climbing up on an outside pump and it, or a piece of it broke off and cut off the one finger on his right hand. I was picturing one like we had in our back yard when I was little, with the single handle that you move up and down, but I could be wrong (sure wouldn't be the first time either) The Langejans guitars are incredible too. Sustain that goes on and on. Bruce
D-MAN
Finger-picking with a missing middle finger... I can't even do it with all my digits intact! DM
