Hello all. I'm looking for some solid advice on putting together my home theater pleasure center. I already have a Mitsubishi 52" 1080P HDTV, Onkyo TX-SR803 receiver, and two Klipsch RB-35 bookshelf speakers that will go into our new enterainment center. I'm looking at the Klipsch RC-35 center and two Klipsch CDT-5650-C or CDT-3650-C in-ceiling speakers for the rear. I was wondering if I should consider upgrading the center to the RC-7? Does that blend well with what I have already? Also, should I consider the CDT-2650-SC for the rear because they're considered surrounds? I have no clue for the sub yet. The room is 19'X20' with one side open to the kitchen. I'll use it for 80% movies & TV and 20% music. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully one day I'll be able to return the favor to someone else. Thanks!

First congrats,I think everyone should have a HT pleasure center.I

don't suppose I could persuade you to use the rb's for the rear and get

rf's for the front, could I? If not you can still have a good set up but

you'll need a very capable sub.The 35 is a good center and will do

fine, that said the rc7 is an exceptional center and would be an

improvement as the center is very important for video. The newer ref

centers may work well too.I'm not an inwall fan so I can't add much

except to say if you will be using it for HT mostly,go with Klipsch

suggested speaker for that application.

Fish..thanks for your input. Your setup is amazing!! I'm trying to keep my HT invisable, yet impressive. That's why I went with the RB's. The entertainment center we bought is beautiful and the the in-ceilings are pre-wired. I may upgrade to the RC-7. I think that makes perfect sense, especially with your comment about it's use in video. I'm kind of stuck with the in-ceilings for now, so I'm looking for my best option. What kind of sub would you recomend in the $400. to $800. range? I'm thirsty for the knowledge. Thanks

The 35's and the RC7/RC-64 have titanium tweeters and ceremetalic

drivers. The 2000 series in ceilings you mentioned would be okay

but not the best, since they are poly drivers with silk tweeters.

The next step up, 3000 series has an aluminum tweeter and IMG driver,

and the 5000 series would be the best match since it, like the 35's up

front, has a titanium tweeter and ceremetallic driver. Consider

putting the CDT-5800s in the rear and a pair of CDT-5650's for

surround/side. These blend in seemlessly into the ceiling and can

even be painted if necessary to make them more invisible.

I can tell you first hand, WAF on the CDTs is very high, and I

understand the desire to make the front dissappear too, as long as you

understand that this is an addiction (there is an entire post on the

forum about it) so you will most likely be back for bigger floor

standing mains later. If you have not bought the RB's yet, you

really should consider the RF's. My wife threw a fit and wanted

something smaller up front. I gave in on the CDTs (a good move on

my part) but held my ground for the fronts. When they came in, I

thought she would kill me, but after listening to them in the house,

she agrees with me and they look good too. That said, you can

always put the RBs in the bedroom later and upgrade the fronts when the

time comes.
