I have been reading this thread for several

days. I became depressed and almost sold all my klipsch and

bought an AM/FM emerson clock radio to put in the middle of the room so

I could curl up in a fetal position with a single candle lit while

sucking my thumb....then I thought better about that and decided to

keep my RF-7's!

Funny thing is...Room size and speaker placement has eveything to do

whith how a speaker will sound. I've not been privy to hear some

of the classic klipsch products and have often bid on Khorn...just

cause...one day!

annyhooo, it really is to each his own. The best speaker I

have ever heard are the B & W 802's driven by yamaha

seperates. Heck I have even heard bose 301's sound dang good.

As I have posted in other threads, I have just moved and my system

does not sound near as good as it once did sue to room size and

placement. I am in the process of purchasing 260 watt amps to see

if that will help situation by reoplacing my 150 watt 5 channel amp.

Funny thing is that my ex got a pair of KLF-20's and my take on

those were they were more open and airy to me which I felt was due to

being a three way speaker with a mid range. I still felt that the

overall headroom and bass responce was better with the RF-7's though

and they do seem smoother.

Who knows...I could have sworn I heard a difference in my speaker

wire as well when I bi-wired my system with Kimber 8tc...now I'm not so

sure...I think many time I hear what I want to hear and would be better

off just sitting back and enjoying the music!

It is nasty when you get nuts and think your system sounds like junk.

My Sherwood Newcastle amp is passable ;B&K was probable the best 5

channel amp I ever heard.

If you are in the process of purchasing "2 - 60 watt amps" with KT-88s

[;)] ;you will get a excellent performing complment to your RF-7s. VRDs

or otherwise...shameless plug.

TUBES RULE ! HEHE

Sorry, I am a little delerious since I got my Belles yesterday

I've bid on Belle's as well. I guess I

didn't want them bad enough. Acually I am considering setting up

a 2 channel system with tube amps and Khorn, Belles, La Scalla's or

those B & W 802's.

I'm jealous....Again

I have heard B&W 802s with big buck MAC stuff at my local dealer that carries Klipsch. Not bad at all.

What I use as an analogy is,"I like klipsch for my taste because I

would like to sit with my legs dangling over the edge of the orchestra

pit".

Some people like the balcony...

Good luck on your next decision.

When I said I didn't want them bad enough I mean

that it is almost fiancially not feasible unless you can get local

pickup...and I have not found that when I had the spare cash! :(

It really could take a roadtrip.

I was lucky the Belles were only 3:15 each way. Some guys seem to drive 5 or more hours each way for their objective.

I drove 5 hours for a pair of "mint" K-horns. The sellers definition of mint and my definition of mint were certainly not the same! I had an issue with the after-market woofers! I guess he thought I wouldn't check?

The Chorus II's are just over a 3 hour drive. Fortunately there is a Trader Joe's close by. My wife has given me a list. Two cases of "Two Buck Chuck" chardonnay is at the top. I'm going for the Rogue River Ale. Sorry Duke, I like it better than Sierra Nevada.

Cheers

Well. I have been listening for about 2 hours and on my third Rogue "Dead Guy Ale" and I am liking the Chorus II's, A LOT! They are so effortless on their presentation. Everything is there and correct. I'm sorry guys but the 15's just do bass better! They can throw those big sound waves without breaking a sweat. Oh, that pesky mid-range. On my modest system, no contest:

RF-7, good

Chorus II, better!!!

Glad to see the chorus II lived up to the hype. Personal favorite here too!

One of my favorite live recordings is "Waiting for Columbus" by Little Feat. Bill Payne's piano just "jumps" out of the CII's, more laid back on the RF-7's. Don't get me wrong, I think the RF-7 is better than most new speakers out there for about twice it's price. I know Klipsch had to make some compromises for todays market and did an excellent job! I can't imagine the RF-83 could be much, if any, better. The jury is still out but, the CII's are certainly getting major points!

Oh yea....I would drive a ways to get them, don't get me wrong...I bought a pickup last year to pull a horse trailor so I can now load them sans rain....

Only other thing I had before was an Expedition that I did not think had enough cargo room to hold them.
