hififreq
A friend of mine cleaned out his parents home this week that they just sold. In the cellar, IN THE ORIGINAL BOX, he found a Citation II power amp! He knows I'm a nut for this stuff, so he offered it to me for almost nothing. He had checked Ebay, so he knew what they were getting, but he doesn't want to deal with shipping a 70 pound amp. Needless to say, I got it for well under $500.00. It was in the original box, with cardboard transformer covers, manuals, service reciepts from the last 40 years, and the original tubes. I'm so excited I've almost messed myself several times today! L.O.L.!!! Now, of course, I need a preamp that's worthy of this amp. A Citation I would be my first choice, followed by a IV. If anyone is interested, I've got a Dynaco ST-70/PAS rig, and a clean Scott 299C that I would trade for a preamp. If there's anyone interested, shoot me a message. I've gotta get this system going soon. La Scala's Citation II Citation pre Rega P-3 Woodside CD/2 w/outboard 24 bit D/A Corey

hififreq
I'll definately post some pics once I get it all wiped down and polished up. It is almost mint condition, with the exception of a couple small nicks on one of the trannys. It's been in storage for a while, so it needs a good cleaning. I'll also run it up on the variac just to be safe. Corey

I don't know if they were typically owned by a more carefree audiophile or what, but they're almost always beat up pretty bad. Awesome to find one in such nice condition and for an unbeatable price to boot. Are you going to use your PAS as a pre in the meantime? Should sound very nice. NOSValves
Nice score! Be very careful if that amp has been stored away for a long period it should be slowly brought up on a variac and almost surely needs to be updated. Craig
triceratops
Use caution in moving that amp around. The transformers are so heavy that it will tip over onto its back with very little force when you are transporting it in a car! I think that is why the transformers are often dinged up. But man, those amps have some of the best bass I have ever heard! If you ever want to sell it, please keep me in mind. All the ones that I have seen look like they have had the crap knocked out of them, and most of them have had the trannys repainted! Also those amps run really hot, so a little whisper fan might not be a bad idea... Best in horns, triceratops
