3dzapper
Nice fish Jay! The striper run should be just getting under way down in Jersey? If memory serves me right the world record came from near you. About 75 pounds. You'd be eating it for a month!-) Rick
Jay481985
If memory serves me right, stripers are basically a all year fish. They like 60 degree waters though. I am not sure with the 75 pounder but I bet they can get that big here.

Very nice! Phil Take the time to cast a line...........Kids old enough to take with you? Could be fun Dad, you can watch Pink Floyd anytime..........Kids grow up quick, and then they're gone....trust me, empty nester.......I miss the noise and confusion......... Your right OldB, I had kids late so I'm old enought to realize just that and actually very much enjoy them...then you go and talk obout PF and Jay talks about fishing.... Really though they are 7 and 5 so the patience thing is a little short. I'm going to take them soon enough. Last fall I took them to a trout farm and they got to catch a 2 pounder each pretty quickly and they had a ball. I think if I could get them on a croaker or spot run at the beach they would be "hooked"...pun intended!!! Phil

3dzapper
The record was caught in Atlantic city. A big old Cheasapeake Bay cow. That's the run that'll be coming south by you now Jay. They have been feeding off Cape Cod and Maine all summer getting nice and fat for you and your Dad.-) I was wrong, 78lb 8oz! Here is a picture from the IGFA web site: http://www.stripersurf.com/wrecord.html

oldbuckster
I'm not a fisherman, but can you imagine fighting and landing a 78 pounder, what a thrill that must have been.............Damn Man............
Jay481985
my 30 pound 10" pole was tested very harshly against my 16 pound stripped bass I caught! It also had 20 pound line that was going to snap if not for the quick thinking of the adjusting the drag on the reel! That fish in the picture must have tested his equipment! Me Loves Khorns
This is my guys fishing this summer in the Bay at South Padre Island, Texas. We caught 10 keepers and others we let go. Brought the catch to our favorite restaurant, and they cooked em up for us with sides. Man, that was a great day. Paul
