Tough Choice

With the help of everyone here, namely Dan F. and theEar, my system is almost complete. The Quintet satellites are on the way and so is the KSC-1 center. The sound has got to better my ProMeida 4.1. All that's left now is the subwoofer. After heeding everyone's advice, I started looking at Velodynes. Now the decision: Do I go with the $440.00 KSW-15 or a $399.00 CHT-10 by Velodyne Acoustics? Or for that matter, a CHT-8 for $299.00? I just wonder how a Velodyne 8" sub might sound compared to the KSW-10 or 12. Thanks again for all the help.

An 8" sub is not gonna be as good as a 12" Buy The Klipsch. Klipsch KSW subs are much better than they are given credit for. Placement however is a little tuff. IMHO

I expected to see buy Velodyne in flashing red lights. Oh well, I've always liked Klipsch despite all the heat their subwoofers have taken recently. The only problem with ubid.com is that another $70.00 or so needs to be added for shipping. That jumps the price way up. I may end up going with an unauthorized dealer only because they're so much cheaper. You can purchase a KSW-12 for under $300 from them. Thanks again for the input.

They whacked me $69 for shipping ...Yeah, that does ruin the deal somewhat. Still though, a new ksw15 w/full warranty for $418!? That's not bad!

You must have purchased yours a while back. Unfortunately, the going price these days is $368.00. Of course, then you have to add the $70.00 shipping fee. How many weeks passed before you received yours from ubid? The 8" and 10" Velodyne subs I'm considering are $299.00 and $399.00 respectively, and there's no cost for shipping. I'm just wondering if that might be a better investment. There supposed to be good, if not the best.

I am not an authority, by any means, but I do own a KSW12 from Klipsch. I find it somewhat "boomy" in sound quality, although maybe I should work on tweaking my arrangement more. I have (briefly) heard the 8 inch Velodyne and it sounded nice and sharp, for lack of a better description. If I had to do it over I would go for a Velodyne.

trach I got mine about two weeks ago. I posted pics in the thread "my neighbors are going to hate me" the day it was delivered.

It was at my door two days after I won the auction. The trick with faster deliveries from Ubid is to pay the extra $10 and get the overnight delivery. It puts a rush on the entire order. I learned my lesson the hard way on prior orders ...I have waited up to 2 weeks for items to be delivered from them.

If they're going for $368 now I suggest you get yours ASAP before they go up again. Two weeks ago they were going for $349
