scott0527
For anybody looking for one of these great little receivers, I have noticed the prices have seemed to drop closer to what we used to see a couple of years ago. I've seen some decent looking 430's going to $10 to $50 in the last couple of weeks on ebay. A very nice 930 for $99.00 If anybody(in the lower 48 states) is interested in a nice 630, I have one I'll send you for $50 shipping included. No pics, it's in a box. Trust me it's nice. Not mint, but very presentable, clean, nice faceplate and lettering and working. PM me if interested. If you're a regular, I'll ship it to you first, you can pay me later. Cal Blacksmith
OB, no rather EXPERT than marksman but that is another subject[] To give my own take on a old saying. He who snoozith, loosith. It is true, I have been watching these on the bay and this offer was too good to not jump on. The son may end up with it and a pair of Heresys (2s) or he may not depending on my mood[] Right now I have as my "shop radio" a Concert 1.1receiever and a pair of JBL 4312s. I will try out the new unit and the Heresies there to see which I prefer. I will probably "loan" my son the non used system, that is if I don't need some of the units for a buddy who is in bad need of something to listen to. We'll see.[]

kaiser SET say
Dang, late to the show again! THX for posting Scott but as Cal said I snoozith'd on this one but I am looking for a HK Twin at some point to replace my SAE in the shop (or at Seti's place at the current running his Belle's while he has new Big Boy 65WPC Allens being rebuilt) as both my boys are going to be needing their own systems soon and I'm lining them out[] I'll have to be scanning the Ebay post a little more[:^)]
Cal Blacksmith
Scott: Thanks for the great deal! The Receiver came yesterday and was in good shape. That is always a plus! Not wanting to let any weeds grow up around the packageit was opened as soon as I came home and moved into my listening room. I had a sparepair of H2s just sitting there so I hooked them up and placed them on top of myCW2s. With NO antenna hooked up at all, it received the local FM"oldies" station fairly well. The amp functions flawlessly though I do hear a slight 60 cycle hum, mostly from the left speaker but a little in the right also. Ihooked up my TT to it and the phono section works great. Its sound is well, less than my tube setup for sure. The imaging wasnt near asgood and though it has very smooth mids, the highs were a bit piercing. I foundmyself turning down the treble to keep my ears from hurting. A good deal ofthis is speaker placement I think, as I just plopped the H2s on top of my CWs andthis then placed the woofers at ear level when seated, the tweets were firingover my head. They were not in corners or even close to a wall to boost thebass any so I think that comparably, the highs were accentuated. To everyone else, the ferrite antenna appears to have beenreplaced at one time and the lettering over the power button is only about 50%there but the rest of the unit is in VERY nice shape. The only negative thing Ican say about it right now is that sometime in its life, it was in a smokershome and if your nose gets too close to it UGGGGHHH! I have a few other amps/tuners/rcvrs of this vintage as wellas a pair of JBL monitors, H1s and H2s to play with and the best system gets toplay in my shop. The next best system gets to be loaned to my son and thelast setup is a spare for whatever!
audiobliss69
These vintage HK receivers have caught my attention. What's the deal with the 'Twin' designation? What does that mean?
Cal Blacksmith
There is a power supply for each channel. This is opposed to having one power supply for both channels as is the norm. This gives the unit a better ability to cope with more demanding loads.
audiobliss69
Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the info. How would y'all rate the vintage HK receivers compared to the vintage Pioneer SX line of receivers?
