Need TT advice.

Well I guess I've held it off long enough. I want to get into the fun world of turntables, I really have no clue where to start. I know a few brands like Rega and Pro-Ject but that's about it.

I actaully have a budget on this cause I don't wanna go crazy overboard if I end up not liking it, I've been actaully look at maybe buying a higher end gently used TT for maybe $300-400, but also if I end up liking it I don't wanna be stuck with something I'll want to upgrade immediately.

How good are lower end tables like the Rega Planar 2 or Pro-Ject Debut III? Are they enough for someone with quality in mind to be satisfied with? Both those I wouldn't mind buying new because the price seems decent.

I don't know about those, but I'm pretty happy with my refurbished Thorens TD125MKII. I think I have about $400 in it now.

Trust the advice of Scott0527, MikeLindsay, GaryMD or any of the classical/LP junkies around here. There is some great TT experience on this Forum.

By the way Mike, if you are wondering why I haven't called. I haven't really even had time to use my new camera yet, other then a few quick shots when I went to St. Louis.

It's kind of a shame right now to have spent so much money on a camera and not even beable to use it, but I gotta work to make the moonies.

This has been beaten to death lately. Give the following threads a look and see if they help.

I was in your same situation a while back. I did a ton of research and ended up with a Music Hall MMF-5. For they money and simplicity you can't beat it. They can be had in your price range.

Good Luck!
