matthew2
Im looking into buying a new TV. Iv looked at many, but cant make up my mind. What are peoples opinions on a NON FLAT sony 27", a 27" Panasonic TAU, RCA TRU FLAT F27TF12, 27", or JVC D-Seris 27"? The RCA looked better then all of them. weird eh? Does anyone have one, or tested one/them? I would really like what people have to say about them. Thanks ------------------ Matthew
BigBusa
I have had a non flat sony 27 tv for about 8 years and have only had to do one repair to it. The power supply got zapped somehow and was replaced by a local repair place for just over $200. I assume because of my previous apts. fluctuating electrcity. Major dips and spikes. This has been a great TV and will probably continue to be until I can upgrade. You cannot go wrong with the sonys IMO. ------------------ My system thus far: 1980 Cornwalls (mains) 1990 Heresy II's (rears) 2001 KLF-C7 (center) 2001 KSW15 (Subwoofer) HK AVR 510 (reciever - Going back soon!) Kenwood DV402 (DVD) Sony KV 27V55 (9 year old 27" TV)
boomer9911
The JVC D series is bang for the buck, check out the rez lines to the others, and cost of course. When I started my HT in Feb 01, the 32"D was my choice, since then, moved up to the Toshiba 50HX70(crapped out), and have decided on the 53HX81, not into TW, more TV than DVD. You want "non" flat...JVC D series

TBrennan
Matt--I'd rethink the flat 27" Sony. I bought one the other day and the picture, judging from my Video Essentials LD, is very accurate. On the nuetral setting very little tweaking was needed to get things right and the set also holds black very well and keeps a straight line on the needle pulse. Geometry is also very good, the best I've seen. The 16-9 feature for anomorphic DVDs is also a good thing to have and increases resolution. I paid $550 for the thing, lots of television for the money.
matthew2
Thnks for the replies. I would like a flat screen for the picture. But every sony and panasonic I'v seen (sonys was worse) have BAD geomertry. Are some sets beeter then others, with the same model number? I would want it to GOOD for over $1000 CDN Thanks ------------------ Matthew
