I'm ready for a Scott

For some reason, my server isn't sending it to you. I received an undelivered mail to sender.

I'll just ask you here.

Thanks for the offer. I guess you could send some pictures. That 233 and 299d uses the same tubes though and the 233 has a tad less wattage. Did you think it sounds better than all 299's or just the b? Was it modified by Craig and how much are you asking for it? Thanks.

I

have a Scott 233 and (2) 222-C's and a Scott 350 tuner that have been

sitting around attracting dust for over a year now. One of the 222-C's

was refurbed almost a year ago and I've never even plugged it in to

test it. The other was restored by a forum member here along with a

bias mod. I used it very little before having rectifier tube arcing

problems. The 233 works but has some minor problem. I also have 4 Scott

wood cabinets and 2 metal cabinets and a box full of 7591 tubes. And a

lot of those small smooth plate tubes with the diamond logo. And

half a dozen or more Mullard rectifiers. Some Scott manuals too. And

some other stuff.

If I ever get the time

I'm going to sell all of it. The only tech that I have confidence in

apparently doesn't like me or my money and some of it will have to

be repaired. Let me know if you're interested.

From my experience if I wanted to listen to 2-channel music I would buy a pair of Chorus II's and a Scott 7591 based integrated, along with a good cheap CD player. About as good as it gets for little money.

Keith

A lost oppurtunity in college in the 1970s to not kow the Scotts

existed. Hereseys, a Scott integrated and a nice belt drive turntable

with Shure cart would have made for a nice Undergraduate "vacation".

In 1978 (senior year at Cal) I had the following system:

AR XA table with Pickering cartridge

Scott 299

Denon (or maybe a JVC--the Denon might have come in '79) cassette player/recorder

Dyankit FM tuner (solid state--don't remember the model)

Altec Monterrey speakers

Sounds like a cool system for the day. Tried for .5 hour and could not find a picture of the speaker.

Hey Thebes,

You've got my attention about your winter project. This past Holiday weekend caused me to miss a Fisher 400 beauty($225) on Craigslist. I may still be shopping for a second system when the winter passes so keep us/me posted. I'll check back with you after the Holidays. I have an in-law that may be local to you for p/u. What is your take on the Fisher(400, 500,800) Vs. the Scott models?

Thanks,

Chip
