Dmitry
Where do I plug in the interconnects from the Main Out on the Blueberry to the Scott 299? [:^)]
sheltie dave
Dmitry, my first take is no, no, no! The 299 is an integrated amp, so you would be running any CD, phono, or other audio source through two sets of preamps, which generally is not a good thing. The Peach has such a "pass thru" function built in, so there would be no 20-30 dB boost, but not so with the Blueberry. It is possible to send the non-phono inputs through the Blueberry without potting up the volume control on the BB beyond a certain very low level, and using only the Scott's volume control. You would ruin any sound on a phono by running it through two sets of phono inputs, due to double equalizing. This is like using a very nice tugboat to pull a cigarette boat into your docking slip at Miami Beach.
mas
If the integrated unit has separate 'Preamp outs' and 'amp ins' you would run the output of the external preamp (the Blueberry) into the amp ins of the integrated unit (the Scott). Make sure the integrated preamp and amp stages are 'decoupled' - in other words, the integrated pre is disengaged from the integrated amp - it may be via a switch or...it will vary with the unit and I am not intimate with the Scott. If the Scott lacks separate amp inputs for the amplifier stage you may be out of luck using this unit in such a manner (without modification). sheltie dave
Mas, the 299 is an early 60s build, and does not have a coupling. You can run the line out from the Blue to an aux or tape in on the 299, but again it is not an ideal setup. A Scott 208 or 260 would be the amp only version that would work better with a dedicated Blueberry preamp. You could also go RCA to jumper clips, divorce the 299 preamp from the amp section internally and mod the 299 to get an amp section only, but it would pour a lot of money down the drain. I'd look for an amp that doesn't cost too much $$$ but still delivers quality, and avoid compromising your 299, Dmitry.

I better hit 3dzapper's house for some mono-blocks while he's away on a hunting expedition. Needless to say I am pretty disappointed that I can't listen to my new Blueberry.... lwhaples
Wasn't there some Dynaco MKIV's for sale recently. I have MKII'S and a MKIV and they sound good with the Blueberry. Good Luck! Larry
Allan Songer
Lots of choices in the $1000 range. If you don't really care about how the amp LOOKS, you can scare up a killer stereo amp on ebay from a gutted Fisher or Scott console. http://cgi.ebay.com/scott-tube-stereo-power-amp-208-excellent-RCA7591TUBES_W0QQitemZ280052575553QQihZ018QQcategoryZ50593QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Fisher-460-A-Power-Amplifier-w-EL84-6BQ5-Tubes_W0QQitemZ200050667060QQihZ010QQcategoryZ50593QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I own the "baby brother" SA-100 of this amp. I know you would be happy with it: Plus, it has decent cosmetics and Craig could make it SING for you!! http://cgi.ebay.com/SA-300-Fisher-tube-Amp-amplifier-SA-300-B-SA300-vintage_W0QQitemZ110057566019QQihZ001QQcategoryZ50593QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Dmitry
Well, I just couldn't take it any more, so wife and I took 3dzapper's [aka Rick's] lovely bride to lunch, and I plucked out a nice home-brewed 300B-based amp from his collection while the man is away hunting Bambys some place cold. Man oh man, this combo sounds AMAZING! This is the best sound I've heard in my house, period. Blueberry Extreme is simply the best preamp and the best phono section I've had the privilege of listening to. I can gush more, but enough for now, time to go spin some LPs.[]

Not a piece of art until you listen to it. Power amps in the 1960s and 1950s were not expected to be beauty queens like the ones purchased today. Most were hidden in consoles.
