Like the song goes all I want for Christmas is my two front
teeth. Actually I'm lying a little bit, I could use some new gear
an exotic vacation and, most importantly some new tunes. Not to
worry, though, because I've garnered a few suggestions from you nice
folks, and have let the powers of the purse know that they would look
very nice indeed under the tree.

Format's simple: Name of artist or group, name of album, type of music
as best you can (rock, blues etc.), and recording format (cd, lp etc.)








As usual I'll start it off with:

Paco De Lucia, "La Faulose Guitarra de Pace De Lucia:, lop, flamenco

Thanks to my ex -wife and her two sisters mutual love of
classical guitar and flamenco, I've heard this fellows name for years.
Tthanks to one of those sisters gifting me her music collection, I know
have a couple of his albums.

Fabulosa indeed. If you have any affinity at all for
Spanish, not latin, music, this is one of the ones you should
have. Very well recorded also.

The Best of the Gipsy Kings---Gipsy Kings/CD-Nonesuch/Folk

This cd is great for low level background music or out and out cranking it up. Excellent guitar work and hand clapping.

Let's try another old Rock an Blues type band from the 70's;

STREET CORNER TALKING : SAVOY BROWN..........................CD.........................1971.........................

After the album Looking In, Savoy Brown could have broken up, but Kim Simmonds wouldn't let that happen. How cloud you lose 3/4's of your band, and think you can keep going? By grabbing members of other bands that were also breaking up, and reforming the band, and pushing out a new album. Trust me, Looking In,is a great album, and would certainaly be hard to top, but the boys give it a great shot here.Some good songs, great playing, and just a fine production job. My hat's off to Kim Simmonds for the great job he did holding this all together, and putting out such a fine album.Great sound, great production, just a good clean sounding Rock Album. I knew when I got Looking In, that I would also end up buying Street Corner talking, it's like a package deal, and these are some of Savoy Brown's finest work, well worth having in your rock collection. Tell Mama, and Time does Tell are my favorite songs, but the album from begining to end is good, catchy, non-boring Blues based Rock............Another old friend has come home to the collection.....................Long Live Rock.....................

I did see that Patrick and meant to comment but never got around to it. Sounds very cool and dynamic.

If
you like flamenco I would heartily recommend Manitas de Plata (Silver
Hands)pa gypsy who is probably the greatest of the great.

For
something newer along these lines I heartily recommend Willie and Lobo,
which I call flamenco/jazz. Try Gyspy Boogaloo or Caliente.

I have
several sides of a 3 album set recorded from lp to my computer.
If you don't mind a long download I could email one or two of
them to you.

On the same note of classical guitar and flamenco, my recommendation is:

Charo "Guitar Passion" - Classical/Spanish/Flamenco CD.

Her trademark sensual, silky and seductive voice is here in spades.  The songwriting is excellent, varied, and the musicianship is top-drawer.  The lady has fingers!

She's also the mother of my best friend since 7th grade...

This is a live recording of Paco de Lucia, John McLaughlin, and Al Di Meola in concert at the Warfield Theater in 1980.

The first track (11:31) duet with Paco & Al Di Meola is KILLER! Crank it up!
