bdbaba
Aloha Roc, It sounds like you have some bass suck-outs in your room. I have the same problem as well. My Mirage BPS400 Subby used to just overpower me with bass in my last two places, but now it just gets lost. I have improved upon it with placement somewhat, but I need to do some serious room enhancement, which I have been too lazy and cheap to do. It sounds like you might want to do the same. I guess one of those Audissey EQ thing-a-ma-bobs might help as well--I have never heard one at work, though. The guys here probably have tried all of these things and will have more and better advice then I. Sounds like you are going to have a killer setup when you are finished! J. Moderators dtel Posted January 19, 2007 Moderators Share Posted January 19, 2007 " At very loud volumes as I walk around the room it sounds pretty good. My Velodyne sub is 12" 130w sitting in a corner. When I turn the sub off the bass really drops off. So much so that I feel a real loss and must have the sub on. My front speakers are about 13' apart in the center of the 24' wall with the sub in one of the corners " Hate to sound like a jackass but if the bass doesn't really drop off when you turn off the sub if not working ! SORRY couldn't help myself . I listened to many people around here in the last few years about " All matching speakers " and it did seem to make alot of sense. So I took there advice, and now I am one of them. I have no doubt that if you try it you will feel the same way, I have not heard anyone that tried it and never liked it ! I had thought about an Academy, but when I looked at the prices compared to a pair of Forte ll's and the Forte ll's were better , it was a easy choice. Thats the reason I got another Forte ll for a center, It's a perfect match. Like Nike says " just do it " , you will not be sorry. Hate to sound like a broken record, but I am sold 100 % ! SilverSport
I have Hersys for Mains in my Home Theater right now...I have used another Heresy for a Center...BEST...Academy (between Quartet Mains...same Tweeter...Nice...) and a KLF-C7...almost an Academy... Bargain Hunter and want a nice center for Home Theater? Get the KLF-C7 Spend a bit more and get it "popbumpered" for the most clarity you can get in an Academy...Get the Academy. Decent price (and you can sell off the other if you find a pair) and absolutely the BEST match for your Forte' IIs...GET THE FORTE' II! Forte' II should have PLENTY of bass...I have Heresys...nice bass...AND Quartets (slightly lil brother to the Forte' II) and they are the Heresy with MORE bass...the Forte' II should have even MORE bass still... Good Luck. Bill
