joshnich
Does anyone have tips for resoldering the little clip on one of the leeds for my phono cart? I decided to put the Shelter 901 back into service and I guess it was one time to many! Looks like the hardest part might be stripping the leed. Those suckers are awfully thin! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Even if I couldnt do it myself, I am not sure where I could take it to have it done! Josh
johnyholiday
Stop gap ,place barewire lead on pin, slide old clip over pin an barewire, friction fit...........good luck on the soldering part
HarryO
You can burn off the insulation with a butane lighter pretty easy. Like you said, they're small. I've done it too many times. I use a long tip grill lighter. HarryO
jcmusic
Josh, Get a magnafying glass and burn off the very end then use tweezers or a rag to pull off the insulation. Then check the wire make sure you got all the insulation off then solder. Jay
joshnich
Thanks for the help. I wouldnt have thought of burning off the insulation. It worked like a wheel. Even with a couple of glasses of nice wine in me I was able to solder that little sucker back on! Josh
jt1stcav
Just for future reference, you can buy 4 new copper wire headshell leads for your cartridge at places like NeedleDoctor.com and Music Direct for as little as $20 for the set. The set I use are by Sumiko and silk covered and were $19.95 plus shipping. As you can probably tell, I'm too lazy to resolder broken clip leads. joshnich
Oh I would have certainly gone there if that option was availble. My wires go all the way into and through the tone arm Josh
