michele.buzzi
Hi all, I tried to find out the parameters for K-28 woofer but also here in the forum didn't find them. Anyone knows something about this? Thanks Michele

BEC
Here is what the Parts Express Woofer tester says about the K-28E. Bob Crites
Modified-Tractrix
Hi Bob, Thanks for posting those T/S Specs, been looking for those a while also. What did that woofer originally come in? I bought a pair of the KP-28E woofers as a replacement for blown units in my Forte's, did a quick a Fs with an audio generator and resistors and got a similar figure, about 38Hz. Therefore this does not seem like a good fit for the Forte'. I took a chance and bought a pair of Eclipse (Eminence) W1238R woofers from Madisound and they are much closer to the K23, or K25 based on the published specs. The magnet is quite a bit smaller than the K23 or K25 also, but possibly bigger than the K28. As far as sound quality and bass, the Eclipse unit is a closer fit to the original Forte'. Has anyone found another replacement woofer that works well with the Forte' and Forte' II?

Jay L
the k28 is the current H3 woofer. it should work well in a forte, regardless of what the numbers say.
BEC
The K-28E is in the new Heresy III. Is the original woofer in the Forte a 4 or 8 ohm? I can't seem to find any specs on the Forte woofer. Bob
Modified-Tractrix
Jay L, I don't see a correlation between a woofer designed for the Heresy to be a good fit for the Forte' sealed box vs. vented by passive and octave lower bass. That being said, it looks like in a pinch you could use a K24. Bob Here are the numbers I have, they came from this site at some time Fs=21.99Hz QMS=1.9 QES= .256 QTS=.226 VAS=9.7 cubic feet znom=4 ohms Re=3.4 ohms Pe=100Watts SPL=92.4dB
BEC
Yeah, I thought we would see a low FS on the Forte. How about a K-24E or A K-31E. Seems like either might work better than the K-28E. Bob
Modified-Tractrix
Hi Bob, What are the specs on the K-31E? I am always looking for a good replacement for the Forte' woofer as I have a few pairs of them[]

Modified-Tractrix
Great info Bob,That looks very promising, is this woofer still made? What models use it?
BEC
The K-31E was used in the KLF-30 and now in the Jubilee. Bob
Jay L
i'm sure there are better choices than the 28, but i swear i remember someone from hope told me it was a fine replacement. It could be that its the most available unit so it was the likely choice.
klipschfan
Do you by chance have the T/S parameters for the original Forte woofer...I believe it's the K23? Thanks, Dean (klipschfan)
longdrive03
Here's what I have on the K-23-K from a forum posting on 2/27/07(see below) which had the K-22-25, K33 and K41 T/S numbers. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/storage/3/855710/k-drivers%20speaker%20date%20k-2 Revc 3.4ohms , qms 1.90, qes .256, qts .226, fs 21.99hz, vas 9.7116, spl 92.47db
colterphoto1
I have checked our ROI parts system. Both the K-23 forte woofer 121203 and the K-25 forte II woofer 121205 have been superceded to the K-28E woofer 121225. That is what has been approved by Klipsch Engineering for replacment use in both the forte and forte II. We have 688 of them in stock. klipschfan
Bob, How would you think an EV SP12c would perform in a Forte I cabinet. SP12C: Fs = 45hz; Qes = 0.75; Qms = 5.9, Qts = 0.67; Vas = 5.9ft3 Always appreciate your opinion. Klipschfan
