aviserated
If you like a warm and dynamic sound you must try Denon's DRA-37 AM/FM Stereo receiver (on sale now at Circuit City $249.99). I promise this little 50watt receiver will wake up your Klipsch speakers. CircuitCity has a 30 day return policy. http://usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3389.asp I also purchased this Denon DP-300F turntable from Crutchfield. It also sounds wonderful http://usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3145.asp

aviserated
Are you for real? [] Yes...this simple Denon receiver sounds better than most high doller rigs. And it will work with any speaker because of its tone controls. When using the tone defeat with loudness button the sound is well balanced without brightness. Bass is verygood. FM Radio sounds awsome! My Sonic Impact Super-T amp, ASL1003 tube amp, and B&K system sound inferior to the Denon.

I love this forum......using the "tone defeat with loudness button" is just too good......I think I'll take off my aluminum foil cap and re-watch "Wizard of Oz" with sound muted while listening once more to "Dark Side of the Moon" instead with no protection except my little lead apron....you know...for the privates.....must protect our 'precious bodily fluids'....cudos to Col. aviserated
I love this forum......using the "tone defeat with loudness button" is just too good...... This amp has a TONE DEFEAT BUTTON, PURE DIRECT BUTTON, and a LOUDNESS BUTTON. Tone Defeat will reset your preset tone settings back to zero. Pure Direct will bypass all tone controls for... I quote "extreme high quality sound". Loudness is for using when volume is turned low. My ears preffer using the Loudness button in conjunction with the Tone Defeat button. Jay481985
I think the stereo reciever tend to have a cleaner signal than those recievers choked fulled of imput thingamajigs that probably cause the signal not to be the best. Also they usually borrow their bigger brother's amp at the same time.

I think the PURE DIRECT keeps the signal completely analog, bypassing any a/d d/a converters. This is different than Tone Defeat which bypasses the tone controls only. Not exactly; in Pure Direct mode all video related circuits are shutoff (display is blackend), as well as the tone controls are bypassed. Only if an analog input is selected then the digital processing circuitry is also turned off.

I guess all that counts is that it sounds good to the person who bought it.
