lorcoll
I would know if I can modify the B3 network for the Cornwall to have the 400Hz instead of the 600HZ. Is it enough to swap from the 5uf to 8uf cap? Many thanks for the help. Lorenzo.
stereohermit
If you have the k-600 horn, 400 hz cut off is below horn operating range. Plus youd need a larger woofer inductor.
lorcoll
Thank you Stereohermit. I have changed the mid horn with the round horn from Jabo (like the Avantgarde) that go down to 300Hz and I want to change the cross bass-mid. That horn is much better than the Altec 511B. Can you tell me the necessary changes?
lorcoll
Here is the horn I have bought: http://cgi.ebay.it/New-Jabo-KH-55-A-Horns-Laboratory-Serie-for-Altec_W0QQitemZ220122528549QQihZ012QQcategoryZ22062QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
jwc
Lorenzo. I went through about 4-6 XO's with the Cornwall and a big midhorn. The catch all phrase for this is a Cornscala. You can search that word and find some xo info. Personally, I wouldn't mod the B-3. I would start over.... or you could rip out the parallel Inductor and series cap in front of the woofer and place a 1.3 mHy inductor in parallel. Then rip out the 5uf cap in front of the autoformer and place a 6.8 uF or 7uF. jc

Arky
OT: that Maxell poster is all over the world. That was a great ad campaign.
stereohermit
I tend to agree with JWC. There are many compromises and trade offs here, and starting with a "clean sheet of paper"is generally the best way to go.

My BEC Cornscala/CT125 networks have two each 2 uf and 3 uf.
