KSW-12...Your Opinions Wanted!

Hello Klipsch Fanatics,

I hope you guys all have had a great Christmas.

I am picking up my Klipsch KSW-12 powered subwoofer on Saturday, December 29. I am getting it for $299 at my local dealer!!!!! Best price they have ever had on it!

I was wondering.....what do you guys think of it? I have RF-3 II Towers to go with it; and I'm extrememly happy with the RF-3 II's, but I need some more low end.

Just for reference, I thought my buddys Polk 8 inch 70 watt powered was loud.......so how will the Klipsch compare?

I'm not an extreme audiophile, but I do like low, loud bass.

Tell me what you think about this sub system please!!

Take Care and thanks in advnance!

105 DB max and 90db @ 25hz. That's not bad for the KSW 12. It should do fine.

For about $500 delivered you could buy the HSU VTF-2 and get 107 db / 20hz~93 db / 25hz~99 db.

It would take several KSW 12's to best the HSU at 25 hz. Just something to think about.

What we think of it really doesn't matter. Its what you think of it that matters. How does it sound to you with your system?

FWIW Klipsch has not been a leader in subwoofers. A lot of the folks here appear to have non-Klipsch subs, as do I. This may start to change a bit with the release of the RSW series.

I appreciate your opinions guys!

Well, brand new for $299 it looks like a steal in my opinion!

400 watt amp and a 12 inch driver, backed up with a nice warranty......I'm just looking for some low end re-inforcement.....

Please guys, I need more opinions on this sub system!

Thanks...

I've said it before IMHO the KSW-12 is a good sub. When set up properly it's great. I have noticed different receivers have a huge impact on how this sub works. With my Yamaha it more than keeps up with my Scala's and it's not boomy. Placement is critical in making it work. Are there better subs, Not for $300.00!!

any device that can make the improvement that a sub-woofer can on your system for only $300 is wonderful, I think Tom Nousine said the first sub-woofer was the single best improvement you could make to an audio system, with the piss poor speaker placements that most of my friends have, they could care less about stereo image or soundstage, I would have to agree that the KSW is a great addition at that price, but inch a little bit higher and you can get a whole more, knowing what I know now, I would have gone straight to my LF10 (up to $450 on uBid) and skipped the KSW200...
