Home theater speaker set up question

My wife finally agreed to let me build a real home theater room.

I will be starting from scratch so I' m open to all the suggestions.

The room is 18x17.

I'm planing on running 2 systems: one for movies, the other one for music

What type of set up should I choose for movies 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1?

For the last 2 years have been playing around with a lot of different Klipsch speakers, but it is time make a choice.

I'm pretty much set on keeping the RF 83's and the RC 64 for the front, I will also add a second RSW 12 to the system and drop the SW15.

What should I choose for surround ? Can I use anything from what I have?

With all the speakers I have I could Keep the RS3 for side and use the SB 1 for rear

or 4 RF 3 for surround and rear

or 2 RF3 for the sides and 2 RC 3 for the rear

or 2 RF 3 for the sides and the SB 1

or get RS 62 for the sides but what to use for the rear

I will be using the Hersey's for the music in 2 channel set up .

Any other ideas?

I know what I would like to do but I'm trying to keep the cost down. I was just wondering if any one had any experience with a combination of the speakers mentioned and if they could share there opinions, mainly what to avoid

Wow...You are gonna love that set up. You can't go wrong with any of the surrounds you mentioned. To be honest... I would recommend all the surround you have plus RS-62's. Am I nuts? Maybe, but my theory is that if you want diffusion in the rear multiple dipoles are the way to go. I have seven rear channels...six accross and one above/back. Each of those are dipoles except the 525's in the rear. Thomas Holman talks about 20.4 but 10.2 is adequate. It is diminishing returns for anything more than that according to him.
