CowGuy27
Well I'm upgradeing my Home theater and would like some advice. For a receiver i was thinking about either getting the Yamaha RX-V661, Onkyo TX-SR605, or the Pioneer VSX-1017TXV-K. I was thinking about starting small, and getting the Klipsch RF-52. Will any of these recievers work with this set up. Also my buddy has a pair of old speakers that still sound great but we aren't sure about the watts it will need. The rear of the speakers say 4-8 ohms, and from 10-175 Watts. Any advice anybody.
Bill H.
Any of those receivers should be fine with the RF 52's. I like the Yamaha or Onkyo myself. Good Luck and Post Pics when you get set Up.
EM3
I have an older model Onkyo and it has never given me a moments problem. Just check the features each one offers and figure out what suits your needs.
Moderators Youthman Posted January 30, 2008 Moderators Share Posted January 30, 2008 I too used to own an older Onkyo and it served me very well for many years. I would lean towards the Yamaha or Onkyo myself. I used to have a Pioneer but wasn't too fond of it. It did not have as much power and was not as clean as the Onkyo even though it was 110 watts/channel and the Onkyo was only 85 watt/channel. Islander
I was thinking about starting small, and getting the Klipsch RF-52. Speakers, especially Klipsch speakers, often turn out to be a long-term purchase, so why start small? If you have some usable speakers, why not use them until you can afford some Klipsches that you'll be satisfied with for a long time.
