Macadoo
Hello. I am strictly an amateur and new to this forum. I purchased my first Klipsch's at an Air Force Base in Hawaii in 1992, a pair of KG 5.2s and later purchased a Klipsch Academy center channel speaker. For the past several years I have used the 5.2s as my Fronts, the Academy center channel and a pair of Bose 301s as my rears with an Optimus Pro 100 powered sub. I know, quite a mix and match. I am now using a Panasonic A300 DVD Player with a JVC RX 884 AV Receiver. I am planning to purchase a new JVC 10 VBK THX Ultra certified AV Receiver and add two Klipsch side speakers to my Home Theatre system. My question is this: Should I replace my BOSE 301 rears and my Optimus sub at the same time to get a better match? Are the 5.2s and Academy okay or should I purchase THX certified complete set? If so, which speakers do you recommend? I am very happy with the performace of my system now, but want to take advantage of new 7.1 technology. Appreciate your comments. ------------------ Macadoo This message has been edited by Macadoo on 01-21-2002 at 10:24 PM
montigue
Keep the KG 5.2's and the Academy! That is an awesome combo indeed! I would just get quintets for the rear channels. The bose can always be used for paper weights. Macadoo
Monty, Thanks for advice. I was thinking the same thing on the Bose. Will look for the Quintets. michaelstano
For whatever reason, LOTS of Quintets on ubid.com. I made one purchase on ubid--be sure to calculate shipping costs, as shipping may be as much as the item you buy. Mike
QUiKSR20
I use these for my rears and not the best but for the size they are truly amazing and will def kill the bose. You can get these all over ebay in black or white for $89 + Shipping usually. Brand New in box. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects
User Name
I would get rid of the Bose and the JVC. Look into Yamaha or Denon, or Pioneer Elite if you're looking for a cheaper route. Even an Onkyo or Marantz would be better than the JVC.
