Suggest a 2.1 or 3.1 setup

I wasn't even contemplating messing with the livingroom as I am still trying to finish the Home Theater. However, I came across a deal from Sony via my employer. Got this receiver: Sony 4300 for $399 (plus tx & s/h) and obviously couldn't pass up the deal.

My set up is a flat panel tv sitting over my fireplace. It has about 20ft between the tv and component location via the in wall hdmi connections. I'd like to have some nice fronts and a sub... So, now I need some recommendations...Suggestions?

Doesn't look like you'll be squeezing a pair of Jubes in that location. Looks like a smaller living room. What do you think guys? Maybe the RF-82's with either an SVS, Elemental Designs or Epik sub? If you decide on the 3.1, you could go with the RC-62. I think that would be a great setup for that size room.

Forgot to ask, what kind of budget are you looking at?

It's definitely a small LR 15x19. Here is the layout:

Lets just say I get a very good discount from Klipsch as well from my employer. So, for a 2.1 or 3.1 I'd like to stick to 1500 - 3000 msrp.

Look at this setup. The WF 34's with the 300 model sub would preform, and look great in that space...........

The below listed link is for, as Inventor suggested, flat panel solutions. There are a variety of LCRs to choose from, including in-wall if that is an option you are interested in exploring. My only experience with Klipsch LCR speakers pertained to the Quintet SL; and if those sounded good, imagine what the Icon, Reference, or THX LCR speakers have to offer. Klipsch RT-10/12D subwoofers offer auto room correction, a very useful feature.

Klipsch states "...By utilizing a patent-pending auto room correction process, formally known as Adaptive Room Correction™ or ARC, and the included calibration microphone, the RT-10d ensures ideal performance in every listening area at the touch of a button. It also comes with an IR sensor for operation with select learning remotes or control systems (visit our subwoofer FAQ section for more details)."

I like the aesthetics of the WF34's, WC24, and the XW300D. I won't be needing the WS24's as I have no intention of trying to run speaker wire in this room. It's a sloping roof line with no crawl space...and running wire underneath the carpet is not preferred.

My biggest questions deal with sound.

If I go with an LCR solution and put the speakers up near the TV then:

  • Is there an issue with how high my tv is up and the audio quality? Though TV is playing now in this position and doesn't seem to be a problem.
  • What is the difference between the RVX and XL lines?

If I go with the Icon W series:

  • Same question with audio. With the TV being up off the ground (see picture in first post) will the speaker placement make the audio seem odd?
  • Anyone have these speakers to give input on audio vs. the LCR speakers?

I don't want to create another home theater but rather a good listening experience in the LivingRoom for everyday watching, occasion cable movies, or whatever.
