Ordered Klipsch RF-82's, picked up this reciever.

So I work at Futureshop, and I know how efficient these speakers are, to be honest we just got them not too long ago. There was a staff purchase program on, so I decided to jump on the excellent opportunity to own these nice towers for a fraction of normal price.

Now working at futureshop, we get clearance deals. And the only clearance reciever available over the next little while is a Harmon Kardon 146. Now, I do know that this is not a very powerful reciever, rated for 35 high current watts per channel. Now, knowing that the klipsch run well with little power, I think ill be safe for a stereo setup. Once I decide to go 5.1 or 7.2 down the road then I'll upgrade to a Yamaha 6180 or 6190. But im a year or so away from even looking into that.

So Im just wondering, my speakers wont get here for another week or so, will I actually be able to get by on this reciever, i picked it up for under 100 dollars canadian, what do you guys think?

Yes. The HK will sound good too. Even at 35 watts it will still crank those speakers to levels you can't listen to for very long. HK's 35 watts is the same as most brands 50-75 watts.

Absolutely. The difference between 35W and a very respectable 70W is a mere 3 dB. I do a lot of listenning at -40 dB on the volume dial, so at less than 0.01W per channel!

Plus, for $100, how can you go wrong?

I have an older 40 lbs avr-325 which has plenty of power at 50Wx7.
