BigBusa
I'm quite curious about this company and its products. I may have come across some Boulton components.
Clint Phare
I have heard of Fulton but not Boulton. If it's Fulton you mean, he was a modifier and he also built some gear. I heard a pair of his speakers and they were impressive though their size, around 6' tall, was a bit large to ever consider for myself. A friend had some of his speaker wire, it was the 1st of the "monster cable" sized wire. I was given a pair of Dynaco Mk 3's that had been modified by Bill Johnson's company before Audio Research and then modified again by Fulton.I gave them away and regret it to this day. Ray Garrison
BoulTON? The only Boulton I've heard of is the guys who make the vibratory process plant and machinery, don't think they do anything with audio. Aside from Clint's Fulton, there's also BoulDER, which are a very, very high end amp manufacturer. But BoulTON? Nope, nada. ------------------ Music is art Audio is engineering Ray's Music System
BigBusa
I've found a little out about boulton audio. They were a very expensive highend and it seems no really well known. Here's what I was told ... I remember seeing Boulton systems in a fancy shop in New York City back in the late 1960s or early 1970s. The shop may have been called "Liberty Music" or something similar. They would custom-design and install a remote-control Boulton system in your home, so that there would be speakers in every room, with remote control of volume, radio tuning, and record changer. There was a demo unit in the shop, and the sound was excellent, though probably not as good as the best stereo systems available at that time. The units were beautifully made, with fine wood cabinetry and brushed brass panels. They were frightfully expensive, costing well over $10,000 back then for a good-sized installation, if memory serves me correctly. A "Boulton" was a state-of-the-art custom sound system during the early '70s...designed for the acoustics of your room/apartment/house...I only knew of them in New York City, where VERY wealthy friends could afford what appeared to be the best...I'm not sure it was, but it sure was expensive. (I never compared).
forresthump
I know of Boulton back in the city and back in time. But I prefered a lot more the stuff by Lenny Schwartz. ~ ------------------ go forth & hump the world
