runninshine
Does LS-BR mean brown? Also, 5P897? Is that May, 1976 and production #?
jdm56
I think the "LS-BR" is "la scala - birch raw". Someone else will have to help on the rest!
HudsonValleyNoah
Yes, Birch Raw and 1976
colterphoto1
1976, yes, May, no Take the letter out of the sequence and what you have left is the actual serial number, in this case 5897.

Michael, I realize you might not know the answer so this isn't directed at you....although if you DO know the answer.... Who on earth came up with this convoluted process of making serial numbers? I wonder what the logic was behind it... why not simply stamp a manufacture date... and a serial number.... [:^)]
runninshine
Ok, that makes a little more since. One more question that is really making me think.....how come my cornwalls have so much more deep bass than my La Scalas?
jtnfoley
Ok, that makes a little more since. One more question that is really making me think.....how come my cornwalls have so much more deep bass than my La Scalas? Slot-ports versus folded horn... The Cornwalls can reach deeper (32Hz versus 55ish, IIRC) but sacifice accuracy to do so. There are porting mods, and subwoofers are regularly matched with LS.
