Normo
I had picked up a pair of 20+ yr old la scalas that benefitted tremendously from Bob Crites crossovers. Has anyone ever upgraded either the components of the KLF-30 crossover or had a new set built. Any difference in sound in the KLF-30 after upgrading the crossover? I picked up a pair of KLF30s that don't have quite the same sparkle in the mid range as the la scalas, but seem to go a tad deeper. Imaging seems a little less precise and and they throw a slightly smaller soundstage than the la scalas. Is this the nature of the KLF-30 or would they benefit from crossover help? Thanks Norm
David Pritchard
Normo, I can't answer the question directly. I did replace the tweeter and crossover with Bob Crites components and am quite happy with the improvement. I think it is worth talking to him about the KLF-30's. Deang
The LaScala has a bigger sound because it has a bigger horn -- no amount of crossover work is going to make a KLF-30 a LaScala. Still, new caps in the crossover will clean up the sound and open them up a bit more.
