I have had my 15 amp circuit breaker (that supplies power to the audio system) Quantum Tunneled and the effect is audible immediately and is not subtle. Government lotteries have the worst payout of any form of legal gambling. That is why the government has made them legal.

Another interesting area to explore is having the circuit breakers (that feed the stereo system) Quantum Tunneled. It made an immediate improvement on my dedicated headphone system. I have not Cryo'ed any circiut breakers. My house uses the Seimens brand. I certainly am enjoying the Klipsch Titanium midrange diaphrams you suggested in my KLF-20's. David Pritchard

Moray: I have found a significant change in sound when the Titanium diaphragm is either cryogenically treated (I used Cryogenics International, Scottsdale, Arizonia) or Quantum Tunneled by Synergistic Research, Irvine, California. Cryo gives a darker more accurate with less metal sound than stock. Quantum Tunneling seems to give a more open and detailed sound than stock. I have even Cryo'ed and then Quantum Tunneled a pair of Titanium diaphragms. I think you would find these experiments worth trying. David Pritchard

After following Moray James and SET 12's advice on improving the crossover network, improving the cabinet damping, and installing Bob Crites Titanium tweeter diaphragms, and Klipsch K-53 Titanium mid range diaphragms, I wondered can these speakers be further improved. The answer is Yes!. I sent the diaphragms (in the original shipping boxes) and the crossover networks with internal speaker wire to Cryogenics Intenational, Scottsdale, Arizona. The cost is $9.00 a pound with a $75.00 minimum charge. They treat parts on Fridays and return them on Tuesday. The improvement was substantial and well worth the money. Imaging is improved, detail is increased, the sound is less fatiguing, and more musical emotion is felt. I think this is a great upgrade at very little cost. David Pritchard

I have just received my K-53 mid range Titanium diaphragm replacements from Klipsch. There are no polarity marks. I have noticed one wire to the copper coil looks smaller than the other. All help installing these correctly is appreciated! David Pritchard

Mine had the fluid. When I called Mr. Crites he advised me to leave the fluid in place. The Crites tweeters sound good two years latter.

Moray, Do you have a schematic for Bi-wiring the KLF-20's? The factory plans I have are for one set of imputs. Thank you. David pritchard

I will be trying this tweak this weekend. I have plenty of room to use external vents. The Klf-20's sure do respond to upgrading!

Normo, I can't answer the question directly. I did replace the tweeter and crossover with Bob Crites components and am quite happy with the improvement. I think it is worth talking to him about the KLF-30's. David Pritchard

I am listening to a pair of Klipsch KLF-20 speakers with Bob Crites titanium domes and his updated crossover network. A huge improvement over the stock speakers. Has any one replaced the speaker damping material? Stock is a yellow foam about one inch thick. The No Rez brand looks interesting but I have not tried it yet. Thank you for your input. The Zana Deux is primarily a headphone amp with those big 6C33C-B output tubes. It does have a line out and has had good reviews as a pre amp. I have heard tales of it driving efficient speakers. I will have to give it a try! I am enjoying using my Art Audio PX25 amp. It has really made my KLF-20's come alive and not just reproduce music. I have both my Marantz S1-11 SaCd player and the Art Audio amp plugged into the PS Premier. Before the power went through a PS Duet conditioner. I am really happy about adding the Premier Power Regenerator. I do not have a dedicated A/C power line to my listening room(yet?). The same improvement occurs when the Zana Deux is plugged in to the Premier. Next I will upgrade the wall outlet . The timbre of the instruments has really improved-violins with a Mozart quintet, mandolins played by David Grisman, and acoustic guitars by Jerry Garcia all improved. Good listening to all. Congratulations on music through an OTL amp. They are a special breed. My Zana Deux is OTL and is one hot amp- sonically and temperature wise. I just added a PS Audio Power Plant Premier A/C regenerator to the system. This is a very worthwhile addition to my system. I do feel the OTL amp is sensitive to poor quality A/C. I hope you will keep us posted on further system observations. David Pritchard

When I got my KLF-20's I also felt they were bass shy. My speaker placement only allows them to be placed off the floor on either side of a plasma TV. This is my solution- new tweeters from Bob Crites and new crossover net work from Bob Crites(Critesound.com). This smooths out the mid and high range so the speakers are not so in your face. I then added an older Infinity BU-2 sub woofer (1996-used prices run $200.00). This adds bottom fullness and warmth to the sound. I am now happy with the sound of my KLF-20 installation. Has any one tried out the Duelund capacitors or a Duelund resistor with this speaker? Or has any one tried different sound damping material inside the cabinet? David Pritchard

It is a good looking amp that really makes the Klipsch speakers sing. The SVS sub should ship in November- it is their new 12 inch model. It certainly a lot of fun listening to music with one watt of power. Of course there are 5 more watts in reserve should the need arise! Back to the music- best wishes for a joyous weekend. Thanks to all who have participated in this thread. The speakers are the KLF-20's. Concerning the Velodynes, I talked to Curt(Kurt) in customer support. He is 72 years old and said he knew Paul Klipsch(" as he has been in the audio world for years"). He was not helpful and said that a Velodyne would not work. Since the old Infinity 12 inch BU-2 is an improvement in my listening enjoyment, I have ordered the new SVS 12 sub (to be released in November). It will accept the speaker outputs from the amp and also has high level outputs to the main speakers (the KLF-20). It also can be returned if I do not like the sound. I will post a follow up after installation and evaluation. David Pritchard

First, thank you for giving me the courage to rediscover Klipsch speakers. My system is as follows: Marantz Sa11S1 cd player directly into an Art Audio PX-25 amp (with volume control). Speaker wires go to the Klipsch KLF-25 towers ( with Bob Crites crossovers and his titanium tweaters). So I have no level line out or tape monitor input- output. The sub will have to accept speaker wire input and have to have speaker wire outputs. I talked directly to Velodyne- they no longer sell a sub that will accept the speaker wire as an input and then out put to the Klipsch's. I listen only to 2 channel music not home theater. I am currently making do with a 12 year old Infinity BU-2 12 sub. Any thoughts on a tighter better sub? My room- office is 17x13x12 with a cathedral ceiling. Price range $500.00 to $1500.00 hopefully used on Audiogon. Thank you for your expertise. David Pritchard

I talked directly to the company in England yesterday. They are not using the old factory equipment- that was sold off years ago. They have been making precision cathode tubes for the non audiophile market. They are using new technology to make new tubes. They are not making reissues of old tube designs. The tubes will be premired on Sept. 18 at an audio show in London. The tubes go on sale via their internet site in October. Their web site has a wonderful old video on how tubes were made. Today on Audiogon a pair of 5751 tubes GE Silver tipped were $175.00. Lets hope for a new good sounding tube.
