  1. Tut tut tut.... email Roy Delgado at roy.delgado@klipsch.com He is the only one you want to discuss this with and then follow his directions to the letter. Once you make up your mind as to your direction, he will get you in contact with the proper people in the ordering process and they of course, will take your money. Then... the hard part (waiting) begins Are you debating active or passive? Thanks! I'll email Roy and get this ball rolling... what do most people do, active or passive? What are the pros and cons of each? I have not thought about it at all yet to be honest.
  2. Awesome Paul... thank you for the offer, maybe I can do that at some point when things slow down around here for me!
  3. Yes I am... I have been running RF-7s for over seven years and have just picked up a pair of Chorus lls and they have just blown me away the more I listen to them. So instead of "working" my way up with La Scalas or Khorns, may as well just get to the end where I know I'll have to go anyway lol. Thanks for the info guys, guess I'll call klipsch later and talk about my options as far as finish and time to build them and all that.
  4. Looking at you guys with the Jubilees, it looks like you are using a 2 way version with just the mid horn on top. Why is this and arent you losing the highs without the tweeter and horn for the highs? Why arent people using the 3-way version that's listed in the pro section?
  5. They all have their place IMO. I have a pair of Chorus ll's I picked up not long ago and as it sits right now, they are my choice for 90% of the music I listen to. I have 4 RF-7s and an RC-7 center and I have done HOURS of side by side between the Chorus ll and RF-7s. On most music the Chorus ll just sounds better IMO. I have been buying cds again and just listening for hours, can't get enough of them! I love the RF-7s and won't ever sell them, they are perfect in my HT setting and they do amazing with music as well but the mid horn just takes these speakers to another level IMO.
  6. Sweet! Can't wait to read the review and find out how they compare to one another!
  7. I would suggest you try your best to find some speakers to demo then. They didn't bring the RF-7s back because people didnt like them. The RF-83s did not sell as well as the RF-7s and most of the people I know that have listened to both, prefer the RF-7s. You seem pretty caught up in whatever negative review you read. Here is a review for you that was posted by DeanG about 4 years ago: I think the RF-7 is a great speaker. In the two speakers behind the curtain test in Indy two years ago, I consistantly chose the RF-7 over the Cornwall III -- which sounded bloated, dark, and veiled by comparison -- horn loaded midrange nonwithstanding. I'm not trying to sell you on RF-7s btw, I just think you're pretty far off on what you think they sound like. You just need to do some listening my friend, best way to figure it out. Go search thru the archives in the 2 channel section, you'll find a lot of info about all of the speakers you're thinking about as well.
  8. Wow... I don't know who doesn't like the RF-7s but I can give you some first hand info. I just picked up a pair of Chorus ll Saturday and have been having a side x side shootout daily between the Chorus lls and my RF-7s. My buddy and his wife were over last night for a few hours as well and we were back and forth between the two with the same songs. The RF-7 holds it's own and if they were not side x side you would never be able to pick a winner, heck we still havent picked an all out winner. We love the open highs and mids of the Chorus ll but we love the crisp, hard thump of the RF-7s. I think they both have something they do better but if I had to choose then the Chorus has the edge with vocals while the RF-7 has the edge with low end. If I could take the Chorus high and mid horn and stick it on the RF-7 lower end it would be the speaker of my dreams I think. The RF-7 did some music better than the Chorus ll btw, esp hip hop and dance music. As far as home theater I have not compared them yet, the RF-7s do so well here I don't see the point in even trying to compare the two. Also just an FYI, I bought the Chorus ll without ever hearing them before. You really can't go wrong with any top of the line Klipsch speaker IMO. So if I were you, I'd grab the best deal I found on any of the top of the line speakers and run with it, be it the RF-7, RF-83, Chorus , Chorus ll, Cornwall, Cornwall ll, I just don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
  9. One thing I know for sure, these new RF-7 lls will not lack output in any way lol. The original RF-7s have all the bass and output you could want.
  10. I was looking at the feet and wondered if maybe they fold in and out. Fold them out for stability or tuck them in? Do they move??
  11. That dark cherry is awesome! I would love a full set of speakers with that finish.
  12. These speakers are so damn sexy! I wish we had more finish options though, would love a dark cherry and a maple option!
  13. Lmao... didn't want to spam the forum when I realized the new RF-7 lls were already being talked about in another thread. I haven't been this excited about new speakers since I bought my RF-7s way back when!
  14. Ironsave: This is a little off topic but what do you think about that Emotiva sub? Does it thump pretty good? For the money it seems like a good deal esp when they have it on sale.
  15. I love it! I wonder if the x-overs have better caps or will these still benefit from DeanG's mod... I can't wait to hear these!
  16. EDIT: I saw that it was continued and mentioned in the New Reference Line thread so no need to start another! Back to the other thread! []
  17. I am very interested in hearing these new RF-7s!
  18. I have to agree with everyone here, go with an Emotiva amp for your HT room and never look back. Best bang for your buck on the market today.
  19. It will be good to get your side by side impressions of both units. My money is on the HK as far music and sound quality but it's all subjective. You should have a little shootout between them!
  20. I did not know you could do that with the volume on the HK either. When I watched a movie I never went below -15 or -20 I don't think before I got the Emotiva amps. That HK will push your speakers loud enough to cause ear dmg. Edit: If I read the manual right the volume goes from 0-100 so 80 is not really that close to max.
  21. Not to throw too much of a monkey wrench in your program but Harman Kardon sounds better than both by quite a bit with Klipsch speakers IMO. I can't stand my Denon or my friends Denon compared to my Harman Kardon. His Denon is actually two levels higher than my HK too, just sounds thin and I don't know what... the HK just kicks it's butt. The HK is very warm and musical with solid bass. My Denon went to the garage to power some cheap speakers lol.
  22. Wow, I don't know how I missed this askbob, sorry bout that! I love the Emotiva amps, for the money they are just awesome. I did do some side x side tests on my mains between the XPA-2 and XPA-5 and you can hear and feel the difference. The XPA-2 was claimed to be 250 watts a channel when I bought mine but after some outside testing they found out it was putting down a clean 315 or more watts a channel compared to the XPA-5 200 watts a channel. So the difference is there... I don't know that running the mono blocks is worth it with Klipsch, I can't see playing any louder than this XPA-2 plays to be honest.
  23. Yeah I just bought it on Blu-ray and have to agree with everyone here. I was blown away by the sound, one of the best I have heard in awhile I think. Great movie too!
  24. I don't know what's changed but when I was looking for my speakers in 2002 it came down to the Paradigm Studio 100s and the Klipsch RF-7s. They were the same price and the last place I went had both side by side. Obviously I left with the RF-7s. Saying the Studios are hands down better is a bold statement. I have to admit though that I have not heard the latest version on the Studio 100s or the latest RF-83s.
  25. I agree with Aab3rd, doesn't seem like it's worth the cost to switch to LaScalas mostly in a HT setting. If I were you I would spend money on some quality amp or amps before switching speakers.
