  1. shaunn theres pros n cons when comparing these.. on one hand the 63 s have a better crossover network and sounds better in home theater while on the other hand the 5.5's can get down n dirty with some awesome bass. Also the 5.5s can be updated to titanium tweeters easily for about 50 bucks...If its bass your looking for go for the 5.5s. Most all of the klipsch reference series speakers have a slim modern design and compliment a subwoofer very nicely... i paid 150 bucks for my 5.5s with blown tweeter diaframes , but it was no problem becase i was planning to upgrade to the titaniums.. the seller is asking a price on the high end in my opinion..not over priced but its on the high end of the market value
  2. I realize this question is for the techincal section but It always takes so long to get an answer and Id like to know asap. Question is: Can I use a horn from my klf's to hook up to my kg 5.5 crossover to see if the crossover is working. Both horns are blown on the kg and I dont have a meter.
  3. From experience let me say this..Make sure you have a big enough sound stage..i mean , make sure your living room is wide enough..If your speakers are about 15 ft apart its a good choice..because that way u still get good seperation.. It does make a very huge difference in sound..just make sure you have a big enough space or else u wont have a good seperation in your sound field. Having a big huge speaker like that on top of your tv can look odd..If your tv is large enough then your ok..I have done a few conversions and these were my delimas....hope im making sense let us know if you decide to Monty
  4. I wanted to bring this thread back because I did recently aquire a pair of Forte's and felt compelled to follow up with my opinion. What I can say about these Forte's, without a doubt or second thought.. these speakers have the best imaging ive heard from Klipsch. the over all sound is very spacious with detail , Fantastic imaging just abselutly a delight to listen to. They might not get down n dirty like my KLF's, But i give the Forte's #1 in imaging and balance. If anyone out there has thought about getting apair...Do it you wont be disappointed!
  5. talked to Bob C and it looks like the entire upgraid w new build xovers n tweets will be $200 + $150 i spent on these... i suppose im not too much into them afterall. Cal thanks for the info appreciate it..I think ill look for a used woofer on ebay. I used to see them selling for around 40 to 50 bucks.. that will put me at $400 with the upgrades and woofer replacement...
  6. jsack....go for the kg 5.5's and upgrade the tweeters to bob crites titanium diaframs...the rf 3's cant match the upgraded 5.5s...Even if you keep them original the I say go for the KG
  7. i bought a pair of KG 5.5s recently and discovered after purchas the horns are not working...the cabinets are loose so i guess they were pushed over the edge.. my question is... 1 could the crossovers be bad as well ? the woofers are working good.. 2 if i do the bob crites titanium tweets will this repair the tweeters to fully functional..even there not working at all now ? 3 should i send the crossovers out for upgraid to bob crites ty for helping me...
  8. ty very much !! one pair of blown horns could be just what i needed
  9. How does Bob C do the upgrades..Can someone give me a link or send me some info on this ?
  10. I paid $150 for the pair....thanks for the idea
  11. Buying so many speakers finally caught up to me this time. I bought a pair of KG 5.5's last night without checking them out i took the sellers word they are in good condtion..They looked great with nice glossy black satin finish. I thought there mint so i purchased without testing.. After taking them home and hooking up I quickly realized BOTH tratrix tweets are BLOWN..GONE,, KAPOOT...also the dust cap was pushed in enough to damage the voice coil one one of the woofers...To top it off..BOTH back panels need to be reglued,,,they rattle bad...This was really dumb and stupid on my part it was late and i did not go threw and check them out at all... All being said..Im going to need some parts. Since the cabinets and grills are in such great shape ill replace the three drivers and reglue myself...Im putting the word out im looking for two horns and one 10' woofer for the KG 5.5....thanks for any help or suggestions and inputs Monty
  12. Quad simply said.. the klf 20 s are my favorite of all the 50 or so klipsch speakers ive had..i just love the legends theyre with me for life...
  13. ya sounds confusing to me ...the serial numbers u have look like 94...call klipsch parts dept...i beleive they can bring up all the info with the serial numbers..let us know
  14. i havent been logged on in a while i just scrolled the first three pages ...damn didnt notice someone broght these back from the stone ages
  15. Tre ,.,,the RS 35 s and the RC 35 come up on the market from time to time..just keep watching craigslist and ebay..they are a very popular line of speakers in there day.
  16. Quad i ddint have time to read all of your post..sorry... but beleive me the RF 3 s have plenty of bass extention..they can pound. Make sure your speaker placement is proper.. a few feet in front of a wall..And makse sure you have a descent amp. i have a denon 3805 and they rocked like hell man...
  17. Wuzzer ive had both and listened to them in detail..The RF 25 s have a smaller sound stage and a much tighter bass than the RF 3 s. Id go with the RF 3 IIs. if your getting a good deal its a no brainer. also the RF 3 IIs have a great midrange sound..i loved mine...look at audioreview.com..they have more reviews on those RF 3s than any other klipsch speaker ever made..Klipsch put them together very well
  18. if they have 3 inch port tubes they cannot be version 1's made in94...unless somoene swapped tubes..which is unlikely.. I bet they are version 2's.. how does the low end sound to u ?
  19. The klfs are great rock n roll speakers with an excellent kick drum effect to die for..the RF 3 s have a beautiful midrange sound and more refined on the bottom end. Its a toss up but i think i prefer the dual 10s over the 8s. either way you wont go wrong though
  20. Soundbound, nice Khorns ! heres some of my stuff
  21. Tim, if you can buy a set of klf 20's for $400 bucks thats a great deal for some awesome speakers.. Ive had several upon several klipsch speakers incuding the kg 5.5's. I take the legend 3 way over most all other models....
  22. ya daryl their availble threw parts dept..i think its 100 for the set if im not mistaken..i wanted the badges and the only way to get them is buy the grillls.
  23. I have my 2.2s as sourrounds with my klfs now. They do have enough power to keep up with them and yes they can handle your receiver.
