spent about 3 hours this afternoon changing power cord, binding posts,changed out i.c's from pre amp and unsoldering some uneeded wire on the preamp.powerd it back up to make sure all was all right and then put in 4 new el-84's and 2 12ax7's and this old amp just sings, right now the GF,and my son are listening to an 80's greatest hit's c.d.and loving it. I was really suprised about this amp,it has tight deep clean bassgreat soundstaging as well as depth,I have to say for 40 bucks it was well worth it now what i want to do is maybe loose the preamp on this, and see how it sounds with my various other preamps.But for now all I want to do is listen to it.

just got done watching the EAGLES on t.v. and a fellow buy the name of steuart smith was playing in don felders place.....who is he?

the dared's are 10/watts p.p. 20-20 khz freq.response 0.05 distortion at full power.signal to noise ratio 85 db.has a seperate power supply, tubes are chinese tubes witch are 6p1x4,12au7 x2 ,12ax7 x 2,6e2x2speaker taps for 4 and 8 ohm's. I have barely used them, I traded them for a pair of s.s. mono blocks and was glad i did,you would need a preamp if your c.d. player has no gain control, a decent pair of amp,s these are.

i have a pair of DARED VP-10 tube mono blocks ill sell you for 200+ shipping 10/w per channel in p.p. really a nice pair of amp'not even burned in yet.oh ,sorry they are not vintage

these are some really great sounding speak's had a pair for a couple of years and everybody who heard them were impressed.THEY ARE A STEAL FOR 150.

listening to the LEMONY SNICKETS soundtrack, really some great music, after it's over it will be THE ROAD TO PERDITION soundtrack. There is just some really good music on this score. KLF-20's sony NS999 ES EL84-based s.e.t. and a glass of bourbon-n- coke

jeez , Ya just gotta love these speakers . to me they are a VERY VERSATILE speaker. I have run them with a DENON-3300,KENWOOD KA3500 integrated,TRIO- KENWOOD L-07M 150/w monoblocks,A.S.L WAVE-AV-20 P.P. mono's, el-84 based single ended, now am bi-amping them with the A.S.L'S on the low's and a pair of DARED VP-10'S on the high's! DAMN ,they just sound good with whatever combo you throw at them. now I want to try them in s.e.t. Anybody else have comments about these speaker's? let us that own them hear it?

went to the local music store picked up a pair of el84 electro,s also a new electro 12ax7 put them in waited for things to settle NO SOUND? Changed the 12ax7 back no sound put the old 84's back in SOUND?

well i won an auction on a el84 s.e.t amp D.H.L.dropped it off yesterday and I now have listened to it for about 3 hours after letting it settle in for about a hour.I am somewhat ignorent about tube's, but after just doing some backround info check's I believe that I came out o.k. on this deal.Anyway I am looking for maybe a little info about this amp based on it's tube compliment, if that can tell me anything. Prev. owner said it is a s.e.t. amp. But NOS VALVES SAID IT WASN'T UNLESS IT WAS STRAPPED? so here is the tube set up. 2 hammond el84's - 1 rodger 12ax7 - 1 sylvania 6ca4 or 6bw4. this tube has no #'s on it except 224? Please forgive me for being tube ignorent but ya gotta learn somewhere huh. I am running it into a pair of KLF-20's and this amp does sound VERY GOOD, maybe a little rolled off on the high,s but this is something a bit of tube rolling should take care of? so anyway I guess it's about time for somebody to school me.And give idea's on what tube's to try in it.Also WHER WOULD i SET THE BIAS ON THIS? There are no bias tap's on the outside of this unit and I had read somewhere that you can check the bias at the tube/plate?

i posted this up in tech. so i need to post here. Anyway found a tube tester. I believe the name on it was PRESISION 660? He said it powers up,but there is no manual for it. want's 20 buck's for ?it. should I go back and get it? I have some of you guru's tell me how to use it.WOW thats alot of it's.

Don't want to sound like a sis, but was listening to GO REST HIGH ON THAT MOUNTAIN by Vince Gill,and couldn't help it, it drew a tear. I had a pair these are good speakers and no they are not biwireable They go low enough to not need a sub and they have a really smooth top end.They usually go for about 400. to 500. a pair
