  1. It's been a while since i've been in there...but, please don't tell me that Best But is selling the Klipsch line...thats like buyin' a JAG at a GM dealer
  2. happy to hear that you and yours made it 23 years daddydee...it takes a lot of understanding to go the distance...I think Garymd and his,and me and mine were about the same time. AS for the sub...are the Heresys in or near a corner...I know it's a stupid question, but you never know,It just might help a bit I've done that with smaller speakers and it's amazin' what kind of response you get
  3. the pictures I download resize themself after they're finished downloading...I don't know if It's the way I'm comfigured or what...........
  4. I see the floor extends only so far to the sides..is there going to be a kneewall there,or, is it going to extend all the way to the sides shown...seems like you'd be smackin' yer head. And there's not much room for the new k-horns that will be there...hint...hint...hint...
  5. no....just always wanted one...then I saw that one in the movie ..16 Candles...with a pizza spinnin' on it. It's like seeing a classic car being smashed up in the movies drives ya nutz
  6. I was just lookin' at the picture of your system at the top of this thread.....is that a denon DP62L turntable?..kinda looks like it from here
  7. I know how that goes...been there too many times myself. At least you got into something musical...do you play guitar?...I play myself, (not with) but not professionally .I don't want to live that life. Most of what I play, and, listen to is smooth jazz..not much of a demand for that style here in mid michigan...mostly new rock and metal but a couple years ago I jammed with a friend of mine every once and a while...don't know if you herd of him..Larry McCray..big blues guitar player who made it to the big time...I myself wire houses, mostly new construction, for my brother...business is good but gets boreing after a while
  8. check out the June 2003 SOUND AND VISION mag..there's an interview with the producer of the SACD..and then there is an interview with Alan Parsons, the producer of the orginal release...very interesting
  9. I guess it depends on how much room you have and how much cash you have....the fortes' will deliver a more natural sound ..and the herseys just kick $@#..so it depends on what YOU want out of a speaker..ive had both, and will take the fortes' any day of the week..they also look better and your friends will envy you It also helps when the wife agrees...
  10. these are actually the second pair ..the first pair ,the wood at the corners started spliting and seperating..so I took them back to the store and they told me that the whole lot of those were made with wood that didn't cure properly, and they gave me a pair of herseys to use while they got me a new pair...the herseys were nice...but....I was happy to get my new fortes'(in oiled walnut)....I gave a listen to the choruses after they came out,but they seemed a little boxey in the bottom end, and I'm not too up on vented speakers anyway.....
  11. remember the days when PWK himself used to design his speakers himself????....if he thought if needed tweekin' he'd tweek it...sometimes, thats what it takes
  12. i'd love to have a pair of belles...but beacause of space constraints...I don't have the room for them, and the garage is out of the question (too damp). I still like my fortes' they have a more lifelike sound than other speakers (outside the Klipsch line of course) and they kick %#$...who needs a sub....not me..and the wife don't complain either..you know how they are
  13. thank 4 the welcome....i hope the picture makes it through....this is the current incarnation of my system...greatly downsized from what it used to be...there used to be open reels ...cassette decks...turntable and a whole myriad of prossesers..but there will aways be the fortes...Ive had them since 1985 ...I went to the audio store to get the Polk 12c...and these were sittin right next to them...brand new on the market...the salesman did a comparison...like night and day...sold right there...sorry polk...PWK gotch ya again
  14. I'm glad I logged in when I did ...I didn't even hear about it in my new sound and vision mag....but, I don't think I received it yet...it's a great loss.. not too many people are forerunners in the audio industry anymore...and now, more than ever,we need new forerunners..things are gettin' too stagnant. It's like everything is a big black box that comes from japan. It'd be nice to see more stuff, like the the products that haffler influenced ,make a comeback. Remember the days of amps with lights and meters, open reels, and turntables, when a person touched his (or her)equipment,it became a part of you and vice versa. Now you push a button and forget about it..or sit in front of another big black box. I still have my turntable...ADC 1600DD with an ADC ALT1 tomearm from 1976..but now it's hooked up to my computer..via musicmatch jukebox. My TEAC X1000Rbl took a dump on me about 2 years ago..but there was nothin' like spoolin' up a reel and touch the play button...well I rambled on long enough...I'm gettin back to makin' dinner.............................
  15. there...now I feel better...now I just have to figure out how to use this thing....computers go figure
  16. It's gonna take a little tyme to get used to this....but anyway...hello...this is the current incarnation of my system....not much to brag about ....but back in the day...well i'll just have to try to get some pictures in here....
