  1. Thanks Wards Web!!! I got the Matt's Mood last Tuesday and really enjoyed it alot along with Stan Getz and the Peterson Trio (gonna have to give it the three listen rule, sax kind of gets on my nerves) Peterson Trio Night Train "Oh yeah I like this one ALOT!" And last but by nowhere near least Patricia Barber Modern Cool. What can I possibly say, this disc is awesome and I just love it to death. Sat down on the couch last night with my wife and we had some wine and really got into it. I told her the first chance we get with the kids out of the house we are going to put this on and "get with the program" I can't believe that this woman has been out there for so long and has not even come across my radar. THANK YOU for the new artist! I picked up all this music just from reading your post and Patricia is by far the best I have heard in years. As a side note I have had Time Out for quite some time and actually grew up with it. My father had it on vinyl and we used to listen to is on Saturday or Sunday afternoons on his "HiFi" player. A one speaker deal that sat up on four legs and you could stack albums on top of each other up to about five at a time and they would drop down onto the previous ones until you went through the whole stack. ( can you say ouch!) This was way hi tech at the time and I was never aloud to touch the thing. I credit my vast appreciation for music to him and would love to have those Saturday Sunday afternoon Vinyl sessions with him. Thanks again for the heads up and you have a fellow Barber addict here.
  2. Wow! One of my favorite things to do! How about a few that just have to be cranked up? 1) Europa (Santana/Moonflower) 2) Frankenstien (Edgar Winter/ They Only Come Out at Night) 3) Come on Come on (Big Head Todd/ Crimes of Passion) 4) Lunatic Fringe (Red Rider/As Far As Siam) 5) Digging in the Dirt (Peter Gabriel/ Us) 6)Led Zepplin all of it. 7)Pink Floyd all of it also Nothing brings you out of a funk like some chest pounding, ear splitting, rock & roll and Klipsch speakers. Rock On! thebes you are a NUT and I love your posts!! Thanks for all the smiles!
  3. " it is better to burn out than it is to rust" Neil Young Jack her up baby, go on, open the hood I want to check if her oil smells good mmm - smells like caviar give her some stick push her too far right to the brink Rolling Stones Brand New Car" from Vodoo Lounge I love that tune!!!
  4. Hello all! I have an ancient Yamaha single disk cd player that is about to put me over the top. "keeps skipping" I think it is time for an upgrade. This Yamaha has been with me since 1986 and I am open to another Yamaha, but have been looking seriously at the Harmon Kardon FL8380 "burr Brown" technology. Does that give Cd's a more LP like sound? I also like the Denon DCM 380. I have an ancient Yamaha AMP that is 150 per two channel system that will be upgraded as the money becomes available. I eventually would like to go with a H/K or Denon AVreciever down the road. I am listening to my music on recently purchased RF 5's that I absolutley love. So my main question is which CD Changer for around $300. Thanks in advance for all your input. I love this site and all the information that is so generously given from all of you.
  5. Well let me start buy saying I LOVE my new 5's and have been putting them through the paces since their unboxing a short 2 weeks ago. I was enjoying my coffee and started out with some "old" vinyl "Monster Hits" and then switched over to James Brown 40th annyversary collection! Wow!! If you don't have it in your collection I highly reccomend it. One word of caution "be careful" this body of work cries to be turned up. I kept bumping up the volume and kept boogeing around the house and finally decided to sit down and enjoy the sweet spot. Whoa I thought my ears were going to explode. The treble had to be rolled back and acutally went upstairs to post this message. James is way too powerful!! The "horns" are in your face crystal clear and the "rim shots" make you jump off the couch, not to mention the "ivories" flowing constantly. James vocals are dead on and make you smile till your face hurts! Do yourself a favor and crank up 22 first disc "Ain't it Funky" and tell me about those horns!!! Oh it is enough to give you goose bumps. I am 44 years old and feel like I am 20 again when it comes to this kind of stuff. The "only" problem I have with this collection is that there are only two disc's "you are difinatley wanting for more" As a side note do any of my fellow Klipsch Heads find themselves standing in the sweet spot to get their heads above those horns to be able to enjoy serious volume without make the ears bleed? Man these things are going to have me wearing a hearing aid at 45! Rock on!
  6. I just got my RF5's last Friday and have been listening to them at "about" 70 percent like the salesman recommended. He said to do this for about a week to two weeks depending how much I listened to them. I have basically not turned them off since unpacking other than going to work etc. I am pushing them with a 300 watt Yamaha amp and have never had them above 4 on the wattt meter. Usually one red bar light solid and the other flashing "peaking" at 4 watts and that is pretty darn loud! I have company here and more coming and can see a demo of their max capabilty coming on and want to know how critical it is not to max them out too soon. Thanks Guys for your help! I LOVE these speakers!!!
