  1. Promedia 5.1 Ultra spend the extra 3700 dollars on prostitutes in Vegas and still have better audio quality
  2. You have too much bass when theear feels compelled to brag that he has more.
  3. I did a lot of research on these two recievers and I concluded that the 2805 is a better value.
  4. I got silver too to match some other componets I owned. I perfer black, but silver does have some great advantages like hiding dust. And it does this very well. Silver also looks very sexy with the grills removed with its black surroud trim and chrome bolts exposed.
  5. If it was me, I feel a subwoofer should match athletically as well as musically, and the SVS b4 and sss can do both. You can have SVS match their subs to you k-horns. If those subs are too much money, you can always ask and see if they will do a custom finish an pb12-ultra/2 or pb12-plus. Either way, SVS is going to give you the bass depth you need to for fill the entire spectrum. They are not the only choice of course and by not even be the very best, but considering that they could match the finish of your k-horn to me a is huge plus! EDIT: I just read the statement again and realized this was a HT system, perhaps hiding the subwoofer is an option and in that case the finish is of no concern. If this was a 2 channel system in a living room, then it may be a different matter.
  6. sounds like a hell of a deal. my pb12 was 650 including shipping and im sure you sub is twice as good

  8. can you spell near field disadvantage, lol maybe I should replace my rsx's with some RF's, I think they would fit nicely on my desk 3 feet from my face!

    WILSON AUDIO

what... like the mustang GT? my SUV is faster, lol edit: I'm just pulling your leg. I'm not a ford fan, so lets get BOT (back on topic)
  10. Why not put the suggested retail price? No one does this and it REALLY frustrates consumers. When I go to other audio sites, I'm literally clueless as to which systems are supposed to be the flagships and which arent. And honesty, those new synergy looks slicker than the reference stuff now, so any old newbie might think they are supposed to be better. All in all, its much better, I was fed up with the current method of product searching.
  11. RSX's are awesome, highly underrated and run great on just 30 watts of power! They go just deep enough to hide the direction of the subwoofer, and loud enough to piss off your neighbors and still retain the Klipsch reference sound even in their small package. They lack the slam in your chest of RF-7's but heck, for their size they are nothing shy of remarkable. I'm going to pair of my RSX 5.1 system with some RVX-54's to make it 7.1. I think the 54's will be awesome for stereo. One other thing, bass is definitely a personal choice. The RW-8 sounded sweet but was way too light for me. I'm either getting an RSW-12 or PC-ultra to replace my SVS PB12

    WILSON AUDIO

Plus much of the current R&D is done by the driver manufacturers, not the companies that put them in boxes. When you pay $20 for that Vifa tweeter you're covering the development costs of the driver. Plus crossover and enclosure design and testing has been HUGELY simplified by the use of inexpensive computer programs. As for materials and machining; well I don't see why a speaker enclosure should cost more than a forged crankshaft for a high performence V-8 engine. I mean c'mon, I can buy a complete 500 hp crate engine from Ford for less than a Wilson speaker. Which do YOU think is the more expensive to build? (and the more impressive machine) Think about it. ---------------- But I bet the Wilson would replicate a better engine note then that pos ford.
  13. bout time! but where is the 12?
  14. thats 480 including shipping
  15. in a 5.1 system, you have the same 4 channels of a 4.1 system and then an extra channel for the subwoofer called the LFE and 1 center which combine to make the 5/6 orange stereo input in the ultra 5.1 system. the subwoofer channel is only used for movies or matrixed surround sound like prologicII. Otherwise the subwoofer is also designed to deal with FQ's too low for the other 5 channels (The subwoofer rolls on from 1000hrz on down to to about 30 before it cant do anything else. at 1000hrz the subwoofer is nearly mute. at about 250hrz it can be slightly heard, and it comes on full strength at 120hrz where the sats cut out. The 2.1 and 4.1 Promedia subs also work this way. This is why you have bass without a discrete subwoofer channel. In order to make 5.1, you would need this channel to go to both of your subwoofers. You can split it and send it into any of the 4 channels in your 4.1s or into your 2.1s. The crossover circuit board in your subwoofer will automatically send the LFE to your sub and not the channel you are actually sending it to. This is essentially a trick! But it works. For example. I may split the LFE channel into he front channels, but it will still come out of the subwoofer because its too low to be heard out of the sats in the case of Promedia. Hope this helps and good luck.

I think they're only like $500 or $600 for the set which leaves plenty of room for purchasing a reciever. They don't sound "awesome" by your normal Klipsch standards, but they aren't bad either... they'll blow pretty much any HTIB out of the water. ---------------- The quintets are going for 200 bucks now!
  17. I have been told the 4 rear speakers should all be the same.
  18. 55TXi is nice. My friends father just got it and I was playing with it for a few hours. Sad part is he had it hooked up to his new bose system. I tired to hard to talk him out of it, but I only new about it after he bought it. He wanted something small and cute and even though I recommended the RSX's he retained the bose. So as far as SQ out of the 55TXi - I hardly saw its true potential, lol.
  19. 100+ feet of speaker wire, get cheap 16 guage wires - 20-30 bucks tops 1 digital coax wire 10-15 dollar 1 RCA subwoofer cable 10-15 dollars 1 s-video cable 10 bucks 1 entry reciever dont spend more than 250 dollars (I'd recomend the HK AVR-130 or an entry pioneer) watts are not important for these speakers. 1 subwoofer (spend at least 300 dollars on this unit, its worth the money, even for an entry HT system like the Q2's. Stay away from the KSW-10 or 12. There are better solutions. Check out the HSU STF-1/2 or RW-8/10 1 DVD player, get anything that has digital out. beyond that, all its a pereference of video quality. 1 TV solution - you're on your own here. 1 box of popcorn
  20. yes, rsx-4 and 5 are teh same in that regaurd.
  21. I dont understand why people use RF's for anything but front. UNLESS THEY SERIOUSLY listen to 8 channel DVD audio. Furthermore, if you only use your stuff for HT, why have RF's at all? I'm not saying RB;s are gonna sound quite the same, but for the money oyu save over the value you gain in HT I can't see it. NOTE: I am not talking about music! If you listen to music too, RF's all the way!
  22. ---------------- On 12/24/2004 11:27:58 PM churcj2 wrote: I'm still getting up to speed on the different approachs to HT. I noticed you mentioned pairing a woofer with the satellites. If I understand that right, a 5.1 setup would actually have an extra subwoofer with the two rear satellite speakers? Do you just split the pre-out to the main subwoofer out to the extra two subwoofers? Would bookshelf speakers as surrounds be a reasonable compromise? ---------------- No no, you only need 1 subwoofer to supplement the lower frequencies in any HT system. Adding more just increases the volume of those frequencies. Most people dont have two. There are several difference ways to connect a sub to a system, but the most common in a HT would be using the RCA subwoofer output on a receiver.
  23. You should definitely get the RCX-4. Its great for movies, dialog comes in clear and since aprox. 60% of the sound of movies is in the center speaker, it should definitely be the beefiest of the system. If you also want to use your RSX system for music, then upgrade the fronts to RSX-5's. They tend do to a better job for music but don't add much of anything for movies. I happen to Like a lot of BASS with my movies, and I found the SVS PB12-ISD (600 subwoofer) to be just under what I was looking for to match all of my RSX's. The RW-8 would definitely be too light for me, and I would not recommend that for the the RSX satellites for HT. The RW-12 or better yet, the RSW-12 would be a much more valuable addition to your system. Yes, I know it sounds crazy matching a 1200 subwoofer with 150 dollar sats, but it sounds the best and with RSX's you dont have to worry about overpowering them. Like all Klipsch reference speakers, they can get loud yet retain much of their composure (not distort). If you want to stay under 500 dollars, definitely get the RW-10 or better yet, the SVS PB10-ISD. The Outlaw LM1 is also another subwoofer to consider at 550 dollars and so is the SVS 25-31 PCi and the HSU STF-3.
