  1. I can look at whatever I need to, but I need to know what I'm looking for! I have a program that gives me all the info about my puter, if someone ask a specific question I can likely find the answer fast enough. One of the computers is a server, two are workstations, another is a stand alone. Any more answers or questions you have I'll do all I can.
  2. I've got about two hours worth of shop paperwork to weed through, but when I'm done I'm looking forward to my first organ selection on my new horns, especially considering the quality of your previous "Freebies". A sincere "Thank You" in advance.
  3. Link? Or is the same as the last one? ftp://somethingoranother?
  4. I need to order more memory for a few computers and am not sure how the ratings work. If I have SDRAM DIMM at 533 mHz, will non SDMM work? Will faster speeds work? If I have PC2700, can I use PC3200 as an upgrade? DDR and DDR2? I'm hoping someone can explain how these numbers relate to each other and if they are backwards compatible. What is "Server Memory" and do I need it if the compuyter is being used as a server for a small network? Installing I can do, so long as I know what the heck I am ordering to begin with. Thanks.
  5. Something I'd meant to mention earlier... These things are cotton pickin' huge. I love em.
  6. Great timing for this as I just picked up my Khorns today and was going to be searching the sealing threads anyway. Thanks to all that have offered ideas and personal experiences. To post a picture, type in what you were going to say in the post like always, then look way at the top of the page, above the grayed out section that is the body of the post you are replying to. Above that box is a row of small tabs labeled Compose, Options, Related, Preview and Smilies Library. Click the Options tab, it will open a new window, click Add/Update, it opens a new window with a Browse option, click it, that will open your available files on you computer, search through it to find the desired picture, double click on the picture, it will then show up in the box next to the Browse button. To it's right is a Save button, click it, and you should be good to go. p.s. This forum doesn't seem to like people using the preview button, it often eats posts or uploaded pics. Just post it, and it'll work, need to have faith.
  7. Thank You! Those are exactly what I was looking for, sure I could have found them with a little searching but thought there might be someone on here that had an interest and already knew some sites. I bookmarked a couple for future reference, if I hit any jackpots in my till I'll be sure to share the windfall with you!
  8. After 317 attempts, I am finally listening to these incredible recordings for the first time. And on my new-to-me Khorns none-the-less. Stunning. In fact, I moved some furniture around, one of the horns is now backed up against the counter in my kitchen so it had a corner and I can get some distance between the two. I'm across the room, way out of the sweet spot, but am going to go move a chair and do some serious listening. It's a good thing it's not a school night; I'll likely be up till morning listening to my new toys. Thank You, Dave. You do fantastic work, magnitudes better than what we get accustomed to commercially, the love and dedication really shows. Looking forward to more should the server thing get all figured out. Good luck, I'd help, but I'm likely less skilled at what you're trying to accomplish than you are.
  9. I never realized there were that many different notes in the bass rift in MJ's "Billy Jean". Paul Simons' guiter sounds so "right" on St Judys Comet. I bought Wish You Were Here today (old one got wrecked years ago). I never heard the background body noises (Sniffles, deep breath, throat clearing) in the first 1:30 of the title track as clearly as tonight. I'm currently making my 317th atempt to get Daves' recordings down to disc so they'll play on my Oppo. Oh Yeah, I almost forgot. This is all on a 25 year old Carver Receiver that the Horns previous caretaker gave me because he heard my Yamaha was starting to die and the funds for its replacement were used to purchase the Horns. (That and he didn't want to hassle with ebaying it) And I have no real corners. In fact, one is sitting about a foot from the nearest wall. There's only about 4 feet between the closest corner points on the speakers where they are now. I can't imagine what these are going to be like with corners and newer front end, possibly tubes. Can't wait till morning so I can turn em past .75 on the volume dial, living in a duplex at the moment and need to kick my neighbor out for an hour or 6. I have yet to see any of the segments in the 10 segment led power meter light up other than the 1st one that's on if the unit is. Clean. Clear. Crisp. Solid. Tight. Snappy. A guy could get used to these.
  10. And at their first resting place as I try to figure out where they're going to live:
  11. These sound really nice, Clark. [H] More to come, kinda busy playing music. Safe trip, no damage during move, speaks were as represented by seller, everyone's happy. Last time I heard a pair of these was 1983, maybe 84. I've got 25 years of catching up to do. I'll be back with pics at some point. Oh yeah. First disc I played, DSOTM. Predictable? Sure. Can only have one first song, that was mine.
  12. My mission today, since I've chose to accept it... I'll be baaaack....
  13. I'm a little ways from Minneapolis/St. Paul, a farily large metropolis. In the Top 20 sized cites, according to some census stats. Nearest dealer to me is 435 miles away in Illinois, and that doesn't mean they have em in stock ready to audition. One of the few things I always found curious about the Klipsch organization, but it must work for them. However, if all goes as planned, I should be auditioning a pair in my own living room from this Saturday forward. []
  14. I don't know the exact threads, but I know there is a LOT of this info down in the Architectural forum. I asked a lot of questions and got a lot of answers when I was planning/building my house. If I recall the Arttos' Klipschorn Room thread has a lot of stuff, but so did a lot of the others. Poke around and I think you'll find all your questions answered. If I could remember them, I'd just give you the answers, but since I'm not that good, all I can do is steer you the right direction. Good luck. p.s If you only see a few threads there, go to "Options" and click the "Show All" button. Seems a lot of threads are too old to be listed. I think the default cutoff is two months or newer to be shown.
  15. Well I'm about half pissed already. I had one song on disc, verified it would play on the Oppo, downloaded two others but then got the "Un Disc" message again when I tried to play it. This was a couple nights ago, tonight is first chance I've made to try again. So far Windows Media Player is making me play each song before it will record it, says it can't determine how long the song is. So I am playing, then hope to burn and have it work.I really want to get these down, they sound incredible from what I've been able to hear so far. OK, it just finished burning the first song, ejected the disc, I put it back in and says it's already full. With one song? I wish I wasn't so dumb sometimes, even though I do realize I'm not dumb, just inexperienced with the procedure I am trying to undertake. Still about half pissed.
  16. I'm wondering if anyone has a link to a site that's easy to look up coin values on. I'm not a collector but through my work we handle a fair amount of change and see the occasional older piece show up and I'm often curious as to if they have any value. I used to do a little coin collecting so I know some about condition, mint marks and locations, etc, but that was long before Al Gore invented the internet. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
  17. Does the Caprice have a hitch on it? I'm looking for a tow rig for this weekend.
  18. Well, two days closer, but still not close enough. Lest you all think I'm insane or a complete imbecile, nothing was ever said about not having insurance. The van owner still has it insured, my policy covers me in whatever vehicle I'm driving, and I'd written a repair ticket on it so I was also covered by the shops insurance. I wouldn't risk the potential repercussions of no insurance for a free pair of Palladiums. (Would I?) (No Peg-Leg jokes, please.) The van previously had handicapped plates on it, which stay with the owner, and he has it sold to an inlaw so had pulled the plates off it so he could go pick up his new van over the weekend. It was technicaly licensed, and he had written me a bill of sale, which would allow me to transport the vehicle without plates legally since you have 30 days after the sale to get new plates. It wouldn't have prevented me from getting pulled over and having a chat with Mr Occifer, but should have prevented any tickets. Minnesota, you know, that place that butts up against Siberia? Three seasons: Almost winter, Winter and Road Construction. Of course Saturday by 2:00 the roads were dry again, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. They're talking 30's and potential snow all week again, hopefully it's decent this Saturday. Minnesota has a lot going for it, if you can get past the winters. The van idea makes sense, but the one I had Saturday is no longer available and I'm not sure offhand who has a full size one I could borrow. My plan with the trailer was to have the speaker intact, one piece, on top of folded blankets to cushion the bottom, then strapped tightly to the wall of the trailer with more blankets between the speaker and the outside wall of the trailer. Cardboard around everything just in case, but not sure in case of what. The speakers would be over a foot away from each other, unable to move anywhere, cushioned on all sides. It's a lot easier for me to find a tow rig for the trailer than it is to find a van, and would make the move a lot easier if it didn't involve disassembling the speakers in any way. Any opinions on my trailer idea when I still have a few planning days left before road trip #2?
  19. Mission aborted. [:'(] I got about 10 miles in this thick, wet slop and had already needed to pull out of a slide twice. The kind of slush that is like axle grease, doesn't let you steer or stop. I decided that with a borrowed van, that has been sold to someone else already but not delivered, no license plates, more snow expected/falling and top speeds of 35-40 mph, it just wasn't worth the risk. I want to have my speaks today. I need to make sure that the speakers, the van, and myself all are in one piece at the end of the day. Took me 2 hours to get 40 miles to take back the trailer and get back home. I've been waiting for these for years, another week won't kill me. Next Saturday's another day. The bobcat is my neighbors, got the trailer up the hill and across the road to the county garages, I hooked back up over there.
  20. My neighbor just got home a few minutes ago... to inform me that his 4WD has been out for a week, but he hadn't been worried about it enough this late in the snow season to have me look at it yet. However, there's more than one way to skin a cat...
  21. I know, I know... ironic part of this is if you look over the road in backfround of the picture, that's one of the two county garages I live across from, been watching plow trucks pull out the whole time I've been fighting this.
  22. And aren't we off to an wonderful start this morning? With the trailer hooked onto the van, the front wheel drive, and the fresh snow on my already muddy driveway, I can't get up the hill to get out of my place unless I unhook the trailer. I tried making a path without the trailer, still no go, found the ETC fuse to pull to disable the traction control so I could let the tires spin a little to try and get a little more speed before hitting the hill, no go, not looking too promising at the moment. Right now I think I'm stuck waiting for my neighbor to get home to ask him to use his 4WD to get the trailer up the hill, then hook back up after it's up. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.............
  23. We got 2-3 inches of snow here overnight. 10 inches 125 miles south of me yesterday. Still snowing , still pitch black outside and 19 degrees. Look like a perfect day for new speakers. Going to pull the front license plate frame off so it's not glaring at Mr Occifer. Dug up a set of 4 10' ratchet straps I bought a while ago and never used. Have a couple CD's to go, screwdrivers and pliers, fresh pot of coffee. Hopefully I'm back home safe and sound by 2:00. If I could just print off a few more stacks of 'hunnies, I'd still be sleeping and there'd be a big truck on it's way here from Hope, Arkansas. In his best Dennis Miller voice and a swipe of his arm... I...am.....outtahere..............
  24. Nice looking speaks regardless of how the forum wants to treat your pics. Congrats on getting another set, sorry to hear about the long journey. Just enjoy em now that you're back in the Klipsch fold.
