  1. Okay, so if there's one thing that seems agreed upon in this forum, it's that klipsch rsw and svs in general rock. i'm working with rf-7 system5-channel system (minus the subwoofer). I've been dabbling for some time with the idea of entertaining myself with a subwoofer purchase (or two)...but I don't like to be disappointed. I honestly prefer dual sub (on the front for phasing purposes), but I could handle a single sub if encouraged. What are some "equivalent" models as far as sound quality and output go? Basically, how far up do I have to go on the SVS line to get RSW-12/15 performance? I'm MOST interested in personal experiences since you can read all the specs you want but nothing compares to an eartest. All the same, recommendations are welcome. And, as an added note, Music first...Movies...third...I don't care so much about movie performance....it seems that if it accels at music, it's fine with movies.
  2. I've said this before, but i've owned all the floorstanders at one point. RF-5 ALL DAY LONG. Everything about it is better. The vocals are much larger sounding, the bass is deeper...to be short, it's refined, a lot. Also, as I always mention, I could never tell at the dealer that there was that huge of a difference b/w 3 and 5. Set up at home though, the difference (and where all the extra money went) was very obvious to me and the roomates I had at the time as well. No mysticism to it at all. You MIGHT be happy with rf3/35, but you WILL DEFINITELY be fully satisfied with the rf-5. Why compromise if you don't have to?
  3. I don't know about the legalities either, but I'm pretty sure a good suit could be filed under "Style Cramping"
  4. I love the JL mobile stuff, particularly w6v2 and w7. I expect their home subwoofers will bring us someplace new. Their engineering is ridiculous. When you're on top of your fundamental game, it's easy to translate success. Get hype.
  5. I'll second that -- the Denon's are pretty good options. Also, not to be too off-topic, but I've noticed a lot of talk about the Panasonic XR stuff. Why is everyone so hot on those? What sets them apart from the rest.
  6. The new site is horrible. The navigation is not nearly as easy and it's superslow (referring heavily to the product viewing) -- it takes way more clicks to get where you want to go than it did before -- and the menus are excessive. If you like pretty colors, then that's nice -- but this site is horrible compared to the way it used to be for ease of use. Also, what's up w/them putting their JPG picture files (particularly in the DESKTOPS section) into ZIP files. You don't save any more space compressing a COMPRESSED FILE (jpg). Those should just be direct links to the *.jpg files. Save me the time of unzipping what's basically the same size already. I think the whole thing is pretty ridiculous. I think the old site could use a new flavor or improvements, but no success on the reinvention of the wheel happened here. Poor design. THUMBS DOWN.
  7. Yah, to be clear, i got rc-7, rs-7s, and rf-7's. They nice. Now buy my speaguz!
  8. I'm selling the 2 pr of RF-35's b/c I got the 7 system already They do have the magnetic covers, of course. I am seeing if I can sell outside of eBay so I can avoid eBay fees (Cheapskate). If you're interested, the best way to reach me is via IM (tunemanjjw) or email (tunemanjjw@hotmail.com) since I don't hit the forum every day.
  9. They've been used since January of this year. I am located in Chapel Hill, NC. If pick-up is an option for you, I welcome it. Also, if you don't pay via PAYPAL (which skims money off the top), I would consider a slightly lesser price ($600/pair + ship) as well.
  10. PICKY, way to do it right. soooooo Impressive! and NICHOLTL -- about that last thing...you're never...EVER allowed to say that again
  11. Hi guys, I have 2 pairs of flawless Klipsch RF-35's in BLACK for sale. They were bought from a dealer (not online or B-stock) and kept in a non-smoking, no-kids household. Shipping (I estimate at $80 to $100) will include having them properly packed and shipped. I can promise you I won't charge more than it costs me. $620/pair + shipping. Email: tunemanjjw@hotmail.com AIM: TunemanJJW For credibility, eBay ID tunemanjjw (40+)

  13. I recommend sticking with the RB-75's and RC-7's. The RC-7, IMO, minus bass output, is the single best sounding speaker on the Klipsch reference line -- why would you NOT get that. In terms of output, the RB-35 will be the best option to match at 96db eff. (vs. 97 (rb-75) and 98 (rc-7)). The RB-25 sounds great, but is potentially 4db in output behind RB-35 (~half the power handling = -3db, -1db in efficiency) and is a little great than 4db less output than the RC-7. Moderate difference there. If you can afford the RB-35's rear, by all means do it. If not, I would NOT sacrifice the QUALITY of the frontstage (rb-75 and rc-7 YES!) for a small increment in the quality of your 2 rears.
  14. As an extra opinion, I've owned all 3 pairs: rf-3, rf-5, and rf-7. I think each upgrade is worth making. When I demoed in stores, the rf-3 and rf-5 sounded almost the same, with the exception of the rf-5 having a slightly more in-your-face sound than the 3's (which sounded a little bit more cymbal happy) and the specs seemed to be really close so I assumed they were more or less the same. When I got the 3's home I was satisfied...until my roomate came home with 5's two weeks later. In home, they were completely different and there was no question where the extra money you invest in 5's comes from. Sure they share the same 8" drivers, but they don't share the sound at all. The 5's played tons deeper, had more impact, had a much larger soundstage, and carried a MUCH sweeter vocal than the 3's. I immediately got rid of my rf-3's and bought rf-5's after I heard them in my own home. As far as incrementation goes, for me, each upgrade has represented an equal jump in sonic improvement. I'd never own 3's after owning 5's. However, I would still own 5's after owning 7's. I consider rf-5 and rf-7 to be where the real deal starts. In conclusion, I think you should make the upgrade you can afford to make. If I hadn't owned both the 3's and 5's and went on store demo's only, I would never have known the huge difference. If you can afford 7's quickly, there seem to be no complaints with those, certainly none here. However, if you can afford to upgrade to 5's now but not to the 7's for another year, I wouldn't tolerate the RF-3's any longer than you had to.
  15. Well, I don't think the tweeter will perform differently. The horn assembly is all one peice (8" horn + 1.75" tweeter) and not exposed via the rear (i.e. no enclosure interaction). Also, these aren't random peices -- the RC-7 crossover is designed specifically for those peices of hardware exactly (not just any 8"s, they're the exact same part #'s) the ONLY thing that is different b/w the suggested set-up and the rc-7 is the airspace behind the 8"s, which will give the system the low end extension of the rf-5's. The only real concern I can see in doing this is maybe a bit too much bass below 550 or a bit to little above 550. That midbass tuning....but being that the rc-7 midbass is excellent, and the bass from the rf-5 is even moreso, I'm guessing the result would probably be pretty fantastic.
  16. Probably no surprise to all, from extensive listening in our homes, ncsubum and I have decided that the best sounding vocal speaker in the klipsch reference line is the rc-7. -RC-7 seems to have the mid-vocal detail/unity that the rf-5 accels in over the rf-7. -However, the rf-7 has such a huge soundstage (which I attribute to the tweeter/horn) in comparison to the RF-5. -It seems the best of both worlds, minus the fantastic low end of both rf-7 and rf-5, seem to be had in the RC-7. ALL THIS TO MENTION: 1) I couldn't help but notice that the rc-7 and rf-5 use the same two 8" mids. 2) I also couldn't help noticing that the rc-7 and the rf-7 use the same 1.75" tweeters/horn assembly. ...So i'm thinking, replace the rf-5 crossover with the RC-7 crossover and replace the rf-5 horn/tweeter assembly with the horn/tweeter assembly from the RC-7/RF-7 I'm thinking this would provide: A) The huge soundstage of the RF-7 The vocal accuracy of the RC-7 C) The fantastic low-end from the RF-5 Anyone try this? What are your thoughts?
  17. I agree with most of the sentiments expressed -- especially the waiting on RS-35's as opposed to 25's. In my experience, one Klipsch product sounds good until you listen to the model above it (I've listened to the rs-25's and 35's comparatively) and, in my opinion, the case is such. Similar to how the sound gets much fuller and lifelike moving from the rf-25 to rf-35 to rf-5, I think that the RS-35 brings a lot more to the table compared to the rs25 than the specifications manifest.
