  1. Thanks Rigma, but I needed two for my Khorns.
  2. I mainly trying to get out low-end because I listen to moderate volume. I have seen the Adireaudio's site and I haven't found an IF design. Where can I find it? For sealed design I have found 3 projects: low Q, mid Q and high Q.
  3. Is it possible that nobody can tell me if it's preferable a sealed or vented Tempest for the Khorns (only for music)?
  4. Hi Rigma, I would know the shipping costs to Italy for 2 2404H. Thanks.
  5. After many months I would know from Wolfram if he confirm his preferences for the Cobreflex and if there are other news. Thanks.
  6. Hi. Can anyone tell me what's the best project (Sonotube, EBS or Adire Alignments, Sealed or Vented)to build a good sub (with the Adire Tempest)to use with my Khorns (only for music)? Many thanks.
  7. I have had the DRD 2A3 and the Golden Tube Audio SE300B Monoblocks and the second is absolutely better than DRD. I have tried the DRD with different preamps but the sound was poor. I think now that it wasn't a problem of the 2A3 but it was a problem of the DRD (at least in my system). I have lost many money to resell it (I live in Italy). The GTA with the Fullmusic Mesh Plate 300B is the best amp that I (and my friends) have heard with my Khorns (followed by the Antique Sound Lab AQ-1007 - Push Pull of 2A3). I have to say that I use the GTA only for mid-high (for the bass I use a CJ MV-50 that is spectacular in this range).
  8. Many people think it's better to use PIO coupling cap in their amps (SET or PP) with high efficiency speaker (Horns) and polypropylene one with other speaker. Is it true? What your opinion.
  9. Fire Pinch, you say you want to sell your Tempest Sub. Is it the EBS vented (whats the dimensions)? I live in Italy and I think it is too expensive, but even if I purchase the single units I have to pay the shipping costs. Do you can tell me your price + shipping to Italy? You can answer by e-mail.
  10. I am starting to build my powered sub with the Adire Shiva. Do you can tell me the best choice among sealed or vented box? I have a Shiva woofer, a 250 Watt Plate amp and I haven't space problem. I'll use it only for music (I have Khorn and Heresy). Thanks.
  11. Good choice. I have bought this week an ASL 1007-2A3 (PP) for my Khorn and I'm absolutely happy. Good luck.
  12. I have newly connected the DRD 2A3 (I think for the last time) and the sound of the two amps (the other is the ASL 1007) is absolutely not comparable. After two hours I have reconnected the ASL and the musicians have returned in my room: Ben Harper, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Joni Mitchell, David Crosby, Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, Peter Erskine, all are present simply with naturalness and full realism. For the money, I think everyone can give a chance to this PP 2A3 with the Khorn (the best marriage in my 30 years of "audiophilia"). Ciao from sunny Italy.
  13. Daddy, I have not purchased Wolfram's Wright 2A3s, after we had agreed on the price because I don't wanted a 120Volts amp that needs an external AC converter. I'm sorry for this because Wolfram was a nice person with a good communication. So I don't tell about the Wrights.
  14. Thanks to all for the opinions. I have choice my GTA after I have read this site: http://www.high-endaudio.com/RC-Amplifiers.html and I thought I'll never change it because its beautiful sound (only for the mid-high), but the more open in high and the same mid that I have found in the ASL (perhaps for my model of Khorn: K55-M, K77, AK2 that I preferred to ALK) have convinced me on this new choice. The caps inside the ASL are MIT and the filter caps are ELNA Cerafine. It has almost the same separation than the monos. Wolfram, the first difference (with the DRD 2A3) is in the life of the sound, less problem in the input impedance and the better top and bottom end; the ASL give me, for the first time, more refinited highs with the same splendour in the voices (it left the full body on male and female voices); the bass is of another dimension (but I don't like any bass in the SET, infact I use a specific amp for it) and I could use this amp for all frequencies. The increasing in power (15+15 watts)is very positive for the sound without disavantages on delicacy or sweetness. The absence of any hiss or hum is the same. I want tell you more after a few days.
  15. Wolfram, I'm surprised too. I have paid my DRD 2A3 1700 $ + 354 euro (custom) + 90 euro (Sovtek 2A3)and I'm disapponted that it don't sounds like I want (had I buy your Wright amps??). But, sure, the ASL is a revelation for me (absolutely excellent with Khorn) and I have bought it today. Now I have: -Conrad Johnson MV-50 (Electro Harmonix 6CA7-Big Bottle) -Welborne Labs DRD 2A3 (Sovtek 2A3) -Golden Tube Audio SE-300B (FullMusic Mesh Plate 300B) -Antique Sound Lab AQ1007-2A3 (Golden Dragon 2A3) and the last is, without doubt, the best sounding amp (I still don't believe to my ears) followed by GTA. I still uses the CJ on the bass (nothing is better for now than this passive biamp in my Khorn). The pre is CJ PV-8. For the first time I can use only one amp (for bass and mid-high) with small differences in sound compared to the passive biamp.
  16. Erik, I know you like the DRD 2A3. I think it is a good amp but it isn't as goog as GTA SE-300B or ASL 1007-2A3 in my system. Do the time can change this situation? For now the differences are too big. The tubes in the DRD are all Sovtek.
  17. Yes, these tubes are for the ASL 1007-2A3.
  18. I think I'll buy it (about 900 euro). It sounds more live (better dynamic contrast and balanced sound) than the Welborne DRD 2A3 that I have bought two months ago and now it is newly on ebay (230Volts). The tubes are: 2A3 Golden Dragon 12AU7 marked Antique Sound Lab. What do you think of these tubes?
  19. Yesterday a friend of mine has tried on my system an Antique Sound Lab AQ 1007-2A3 (Push Pull of 2A3) and I am still now incredulous on what I have heard (warm, clean, dynamic, live, divine highs and perfect for the Khorn: PWK used a PP 2A3). It has the same midrange of my GTA SE-300B but better highs and bass. Have someone tried Khorn with PP-2A3?
  20. Thanks for all replies, but yesterday a friend of mine has tried on my system an Antique Sound Lab AQ 1007-2A3 (Push Pull of 2A3) and I am still now incredulous on what I have heard (warm, clean, dynamic, live, divine highs and perfect for the Khorn: PWK used a PP 2A3). He can sell it to me for about 900 Euro and I think I'll buy it. Do someone knows this stereo amp (the latest models are only a PP of 300B)?
  21. If someone confirm me that the MC30 gives good bass with the KHORN, I'll try to find a good pair.
  22. Wolfram, do you think that MC30 have better bass? Marantz 8 is too expensive (how are the bass). Thanks.
  23. I would buy this Mac: http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3804536557&category=35262 I it better of my Conrad Johnson MV-50 for my Khorn? Thanks.
  24. I have a pair of Khorn. But I would modify the sound of Heresy that have my mother and I think that adding the 511B (or K400) can help because decreases the work for the woofer (only from 80 hz to 400 hz). The mid-high drivers are the same of Khorn and the sub gives a great help. In extreme, if we can increase the SPL of the K-22E (with a biamp), we can change the taps on the T2A like the type A and the sound would be like the Khorn (or not?).
