  1. Well, I have listened to several JBL speakers and all I can say is...... (I'll prob get it for this) "They can suck my long floppy one"
  2. Nope! Well I did get it back today, my authorized dealer said it was simply a disconnected wire. I don't know if it was like that since day one but at least it's working now
  3. Man today I got some rough news. I was listening to my speakers today as I usually do and my friend had left a bass test cd at my place which is really ment for car systems but I thought I'd try it on my RF3ll's for the heck of it. I played a track that started at 1hz and went to 120hz and as you know the woofers really start a dancin at 1hz and what caught my eye was the midrange on my left speaker was not moving at all. I tried different settings but confirmed it was the speaker; and what upsets me as I think it's been like that since day 1 (way back in september). After I had relized the problem I played an xbox game with voices and rotated the camera switching from left to right speaker, I noticed that the left was missing something, hard to describe but I guess what the midrange would play. The speakers do a good jon without the midrange as it actually took a visual examination to notice the problem. Anywhoo I took em down to my local dealer and he said he'd have it fixed by the end of today which was nice. Im just curious if the speaker itself had a manufacturing default since day 1 or if it got damaged somehow??? Any opionions here would be appreciated.
  4. I love this movie; great sound, great story, great acting but I havn't seen one with DTS? Band of Brothers has DTS, The Thin Red Line has DTS, but not this one, lets go steven.
  5. Alright well thanks for the reply's I didn't think that a reference sub would be as bad as that and I apologize for the swearing (It would be nice if I had someone local dealers who knew really what they were doing and how to set something up). I was angry because they think they can cheat me by saying "it's just those sp-1's going past their limit when in fact I heard the same noise after he disabled those litte powered 8"'s, they knew it was a crappy setup. They think a big 2300 dollar price tag just says take it without trying, pppfttt Thanks again guys
  6. Pathetic, So today I go downtown to my local #&$*$@ Klipsch dealer and bring an ol'bass test cd to hear on the RSW-12 (which I've talked so much about). My original plan was to pick it up on friday after school but after what I heard today, I'm not so sure. Im assuming the dumbies there don't know how to hook up a goddamn system.... anyway I slap in the "2 fast 2 furious" soundtrack and he turns it up to about -50 to -38 db on a Pioneer VSX-41 with the low pass xover on the sub set to about 110 I think.. ( I didn't want to adjust it as the salesmen would have blacked thinking I don't know dink all about stereos). The very first thing I noticed was the unbarable noise it made. It was as though the sub was bottoming out at a surprisingly low volume, the whole box made a sick noise as though it couldn't handle it and was pushin way the heck over it's limit. My friend described it as if the cones were "slapping" beyond their max excursion. This was all on the higher frequency notes, I didn't notice anything on the lower extension, but after hearing this the sales dude turned the bass on the receiver from plus 6 to 0, wth for! This is a 2000 sub with a 625 watt bash amp and it's bottoming out way before my towers would even start to clip? Im upset, If I'm taken a brand new out of the box Klipsch (REFERENCE) sub and it makes what I would describe as being boomy without an irritating port noise which seems incorrect, then I'm going to lose some respect for Klipsch and go for a damn SVS B4 Plus and a Crown XLS 602!!! Someone on this forum such as "EAR" please tell me what you think with your detailed background on subs what the heck this was. Sure it was a floor model which had crappy cables and the crossover might not have been adjusted properly but I know what I heard and I wanted to puke. Of course I could be super deadly over reacting here because I've never read about the RSW-12 being a distorion full sub with no authority and I expect more for my grocery baggin money so please.............enlighten me
  7. Well today has been one hell of a day. My dads stereo has gone to **** and he was interested in mine. So in trade of a pair of RF-3ll's and a Harman Kardon AVR 125, Im getting a pair of RF-5's, a Pioneer VSX 53 TX and an RSW-12. Im very excited but a little unsure of the receiver. Anyone want to enlighten me??
  8. DUDE, this is the exact problem I've been having. Last night I watched "The Rock" on dvd and there was deadly static from the speakers (RF3 ll) when the voices were loud, when there was loud bass, and when the jets would fly over. I need to find the source
  9. Hey, I just had a thought. I remeber coming on here about a month ago explaining my problem with static coming from my tweeters. The one thing I notice that has alot of static is the xbox game: "Project Gotham Raceing 2" just while racing litte static ticks come through those horns as clear as day. But today while spring cleaning I notcied that my entertainment room is very dusty. I could easily go through a box of those "swifer" thingys in a week there was so much of it. I saw that when gently wiping down all my equipment, which I regulararly do, that those litte annoying specs of dust stick to the sides of my RF-3's like a magnet. Do any of you think that this could get into my tweeter and be causing the static, maybe a little far fetched but like I said before the static isn't always there, just when listening to certain things. and on another note how the heck do you get rid of dust?
  10. Sorry guys havn't posted for awhile. Anyway I've been going crazy with different ideas about what to buy. I held off on the RSW-12 thinking about the SVS PB2 +. Then i was stuck wanting a new computer. God there is so much stuff I want; but now I've come back the the good ol RSW-12, why? Cause my local dealer went from $2300 to $1400 (cdn) in price! It may not be as good as an SVS but i'll bet it will blend nicely with my RF-3 ll's. Anyway, I had a question for EAR, he said in a post about while listeing to reference series subs that watching a live rock concert made the them shine. Well would AC/DC's "Live at Donington" count? I've heard it through a few times and it was awesome in two channel. But what I'm just asking is for is some excellent tests to show to friends of what this baby can do? p.s, give me about two weeks and i'll have er, i'll post with my after thoughts! Thanks
  11. Well I had the chance to pickup my RSW-12 this week but I stopped in my tracks. I started thinking to myself about SVS and how alot of people on this forum really like them. I know the RSW-12 has some good output but struggles under 30 hz or so, so I figured I'd check out SVS. The first one that I checked out ended up being the one I wanted, the PB2 Plus; so Im 98% sure Im going to go with this one from the bit I've read. Can anyone here tell me something the RSW-12 might have over it? Or just something in general I should know? How do these two compare? Thanks
  12. I never knew what DTS was until a couple weeks ago, I watched "Gladiator" and it was freakin awesome. When you hear those swords clang together you get the true definition of a "horn loaded tweeter" aka "Klipsch" last night though I was dissapointed. I rented "Black Hawk Down" and it only had "English" as an audio option, quite hurting, it just didn't put you in the movie like "DTS" does. Im sorry but from now on I am going to refrain from watching a dvd unless it has "DTS"
  13. I want to see this movie, but because it's an emotional brutal movie, I will pay it the respect of playing it on my home theater with my friends here to watch.
  14. Heckler and Koch is a famous german firearms manufacturer.
  15. Well for the past couple of days I have been doing sound tests in regards to the static crackling I have been hearing out of my tweeters. At first I was worried my tweeters were damaged but that doesn't seem to be the case, I tested "Gladiator" and "Band of Brothers" on DVD in "DTS" trough my optical cable and everything sounded amazing as I had expected. It seems however that when I tried "The Eagles, Hotel California" CD and "NOW 4" I noticed some static again; they have a few scratches on them as they are fairly old but the only thing I can determine is that it's picking up on what seems to be the recorders' fault in quailty. I also listened to a couple movies on "Movie Central" through my digital coax cable and there was no interference what so ever, the new wire I purchased is "Acoustic Research" 12 guage oxygen free wire that, to my knowledge, is very good at picking up every little noise possible. Some of you who replied to my earlier posts were suggesting it might be the cable but I use my optical cable for everything that I listen to, except through my cable box which is digital coax. Is it possible that the crackling I hear is the fault of the recorder? I'd appreciate any opinions in regards to this. I mean I can't be the only one picking up interference when some of you guys have those super expensive pre-amps, amps, receivers, and of coarse speakers.
  16. Well, for the first time I have run into a problem I can't seem to fix... Over the last couple weeks I had decided to get some new speaker wire, first off cause my old stuff wouldn't reach to the new entertainment center, and second I thought I would try something a little higher quality. Anyway to get to the point, ever since I changed my wire I notice a static noise coming from my tweeter (voices and symbols more specifically) but I can't seem to fix it. My first wire was 14 guage "Intensifier High Performance" which was what I had for several months and never noticed anything. The second set I bought was 16 guage "Tsunami competion series" it was here that I began to notice some interference but at first I thought it was just the quality of the wire. After fidleing with that for a few days, I went and bought some 12 guage "Acoustic Research Pro Performance 2" and this is where I got annoyed and concerned. I listened to the "Eagles", "AC/DC", xbox games, anything that I had and this constant static and crackle noise plays through the tweeter. I tried reconnecitng all the wire, cleaning the DVD player and the discs, securing all my rca cables etc and no matter what I do it's still there. But heres the best part, when I watched "Gladiator" or "Band of Brothers" in "DTS" mode, there is absolutely no static, crackle, or anything at all. I was worried that my tweeters may be damaged but I just don't know, xbox games like "Project Gotham 2" were really bad during the idle sounds of the cars. My friend told me that the problem is the source, in other words the nice wire is picking up on absolutely everything there is to here, pretty much that all these companies that audio test cd's aren't doing a good job and my equipment is too high quality, AAHH I DUNNO, with the exception of "DTS" in the movies. Look I know this is a long post but it's really got me worried and I can't seem to fix it, PLEASE HELP!!!!
  17. Sorry I should have noted that, I have only used digital signals for movies, cd's and xbox. I tried a digital coax on the dvd player but no difference from the optical.

  19. I mean that across all of north america, was it the best selling floor standing loudspeaker? I dunno I just heard it somewhere
  20. I heard the RF-3 or 3 ll, not sure which one, was the #1 selling speaker in North America in 1999, is this true? I would like to see it in writing or on the net somewhere. Also, if this is true does it mean it's the #1 selling floor-standing speaker alone, or the #1 selling "Klipsch" floor-standing speaker?
  21. OMG, have any of you watched "Gladiator", well I'm sure you have but.......... last night I watched it in my home theater and just hooked up my new 12 guage acoustic research speaker wire which added to the nice "DTS ES" through my Klipsch!!! I have never heard louder!, clearer! clanging of steal in my life, it was absolutly astonishing, through the battle scenes I literally pushed myself back in my chair and took a breath of air as I was feeling incredubly tense! If you havn't seen it WATCH IT ASAP, amazing sound quality, awesome story, and non stop action!
  22. Im starting to regret putting this post on, it seems i've started some bitter arguments over brand names, this is where I say STOP!!!!! all I wanted to know was what you guys "thought" of the two companies, and frankly, I was most interested in the "EARS" response as he is viewed with alot of respect, so thanks again for all of this interested information guys. And everyone, be thankful that were not listening to durabrand HT4000's in a box that don't come with working surrounds 95% of the time lmao, I love my system
  23. He said hes buyin them from advance electronics in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada for those who don't where that is) for $10000.00 go figure
