  2. Right on, RF-7's rock!!! I love them I only have two, but they throw a huge soundstage, make the band come to you and are very clean and smooth in the treble, sound awesome with tubes.
  3. Wow, what a great CD. I just recieved it this afternoon, i have it blaring out loud. Man, you have a great guitarist, the guy can flat out jam!!! I love his power chords and hammer ons and pull offs, it has that 80's pure rock and roll , just pure crunchy guitar with solo's. The drum work is awesome, you were just flat out rockin out. The Sax part on the 4th song is great, and vocals are very good. 20" and 18" crash, high hats, ride cymbals and twin bass drums rockin out. Keep up the great work, im always hungry for good rock 24/7 and you have satisfied my hunger Have you given thought to joining up with Vito Brata on your next album? BTW, is your wife Marjan persian?
  4. Born2RockU, I might take you up on your offer for the free CD, sounds like a sweet deal. I want to hear what your playing sounds like, I bet it is amazing. Also, it will give me an idea of what kind of talent I should expect when I decide to call upon you to give me some lessons. I want to sound like Tony Macalpine within a years time.

  6. Born2RockU, I hear you live in Houston, TX is that correct? I live in Dallas, Tx and was wondering If i made the effort to drive down on weekends for lessons, could you have me sounding like Rudolph Schenker in a year?
  7. Awesome Thebes!! Congrats on the score, you finally scored. That is called a Selenium Rectumfier I believe, and it is better to put in a Silicon equivalent for much better bias accuracy.

I also don't want to buy a "project". I'm totally not into refurbing an old tube amp. ---------------- Actually, if you dont want the hassle of tubes, and believe me when i say they are a huge hassle! Biasing, constantly having to swap dead tubes, warm up time and etc.. I would go with a vintage solid state 2 channel reciever. Such as a Marantz, they sound great and have a nice warm treble, awesome bass and sound great on Klipsch speakers. You can pick up a nice Marantz reciever on Ebay for a great price. Here is a 2275 at $50 with a day left, 2 channels and 75watts per channel of pure, high current power that will drive those RF-7's effortlessly and very clean. Will be more than youll need for those RF-7's with Rock, movies, Jazz, Classical and whatever it may be, they will thump!!! ALso, dont worry about buying off Ebay, I have purchased over $5k worth of stuff over the past few months alone from ebay, and have had not one problem. Everything has been great and delivered quickly. Here is the auction on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50591&item=5747339726&rd=1 Here is the specs: http://www.classic-audio.com/marantz/2275.html

But for that amount of money I'll bet I hear very little difference. I'm told by a lot of knowledgeable folks that my PMA2000 is a very good amp with nice high current. But what do I know? I think I'll go buy the Jolida CD player. ---------------- I believe I explained to you in a previous thread that Mixing Denon recievers and amps with Klipsch is not a good Idea, We tried a Denon AVR-3805 reciever and it sounded horrible on my bro's KG 5.5's, extremely bright and edgy. We use a Scott tube amp and it is wonderful. Its the amp bro, sorrty to say it, but its gotta go. Get a integrated tube amp like a Scott, Fisher,etc... and you will notice a huge diffrence in sound quality and warmth in the treble, no more screechy highs. Ive gone through many amps and recievers and ended up with tube monoblock amps, had my crossovers upgraded by Dean G and all is good, all my cd's no matter how badly mixed still sound very good, clean in the treble and with the addition of the RSW-15 sub, plenty of bass.

  11. Born2RockU, If i came over for some lessons, would you have me sounding like Reb Beach in about a year?
  12. Who the flying heck are the "Twins" you keep talking about? Are you talking about the "twins" you keep playing with in your pockets?

There was indeed a difference but at what true cost vs. performance ration? The Ayre seemed to have widest product line. I wanted to see McCormack, ARCAM and NAIM but did not get to all the booths and suites at the Alexis Park. Well enough of my review of CES. What would you the 2-channel seasoned Klipsch experts suggest as a player? I'd like to also listen to SACD and DVD-A as well but not necessarly on the same player. Regards, Mike ---------------- Mmiles, Welcome to the board. If you are looking for a great player at an affordable price, check out this Esoteric UX-1 player. It is an awesome player from reviews and will be sure to fit the bill and whithin your price range. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1110991154

Over at Metal Sludge you can read some interviews they did with Don & George... basically a he said / he said argument. Don claims George & the rest of the band were doing too many drugs & not caring for the direction of the band. Then there was something about George spitting on Don all through a concert LOL. George's defense was that it didn't happen & Don was just too greedy/money hungry.. it's a pretty good read. Wish I knew you were a fan, I just sold a guitar pick I had of Georges also. ---------------- Cool, Ill check it out and read it. Yeah, Don and George would butt heads as many Guitarist/lead singers do in bands. Its the battle of the Ego's and each has thier own set of fan base. George wanted to play more heavier stuff and Don wanted only his songs played to appease the women more. So George left and started Lynch Mob, he came out with an album in '91 called Wicked Sensation, its not a bad album but Dokken's Up From The Ashes blows it away. John Norum more than holds his own in George's place. We need to bring back Vito Bratta, now that boy can jam

I think thats a killer disc... tunes like "Give It Up", "Mirror Mirror" & "STay".... awesome stuff! And for all you Metallica haters, I'm not even going to go there... just went through that whole mess on another thread. Thanks Thebes... Manawar is your basic 80's metal band. Even though they continue to put out records. I think they have the world record for loudest band. Definitely have more than a few tunes to crank it up when in the mood. As a side note I have two dokken cassettes up for auction now on eBay, autographed by George Lynch. ---------------- Oh, how can we forget up from the Ashes, that is an awesome album!!! You have John Norum (Europe) on guitar, Peter Baltes (Accept), Billy White on rythm guitar, and Mickey Dee (Motorhead) on drums. John Norum is awesome, I have all the Europe albums and 2 of his solo albums, amazing guitarist. I just purchased a autographed ESP LTD electric guitar by George Lynch for my bro who is taking up guitar, its his Sunburst Tiger series and looks and sounds great, my bro is loving it going through a Crate 60watt combo amp with effects pedal. Here is a picture of his guitar.

  19. We used a Denon AVR-3805 top of the line reciever about 5 months ago on my bro's KG 5.5's and I felt like shooting myself, the treble was so edgy. You couldnt listen to it for more than a few minutes without fatigue. We even turned the treble down -6, the RF-7's are even more revealing and efficeint than the KG 5.5's. We put a Scott 299-C that we had and all sounded great again.
  20. No, no no, donot mix Denon and the Klipsch speakers. It is not a very good combination, unless your friend likes to have a spike driven through his temple.
  21. What reciever are you using to power the KLF-90's?
  22. I would be very very leery If I were you, please put aside your excitement for a moment and ponder the circumstances. 1. 3 bidders above you suddenly decided to back out 2. He happened to know your bid amount exactly, and that is because after the auction ends it shows the names of the bidders and what there final bid amount was for anyone to see. 3. Probably was using other alias or friends to shill bid the auction to see what your max amount was by artificially inflating the price. And then once they knew your exact max bid, they say that "Other bidders backed out, and you happen to be the lucky one to get it at your max bid price" Things to consider.
