  1. By the looks of your system you appear to be mostly HT and less music. That being said the Klipsch wouldn't be an upgrade if you're looking for deeper (something HT requires these days). The Klipsch has a different sound than the SVS; if you're an HT verses music person then you may be diappointed in the switch you're suggesting. What are your goals?
  2. Problem: One man's opinion... Joe Smith's trash is John Doe's treasure.
  3. I don't think I've ever heard a negative word about the sub-12. That's not to say that it's the absolute best in all areas for it's price point, but still very good.
  4. What's the deal with all these dead sub-10's????? I don't see that there's been any recall but there look to be complaints on other boards, too. Most bought from BB on BF.
  5. But like everyone we used assumtions based on our own opinions. Isn't that the way of the world? Even with cold hard facts or a lack of them staring us in the face? That's being human.
  6. Can't argue with physics. That's a huge room. When you change the environment from a small to a large room, the change in sub volume will be dramatic. Can't blame the sub. Look to add an additional or replace. The difference between a 20-39pci and an RT-12d is great, as is the difference between the RT and a pair of THX's. Each in a different class. You may want to narrow your options or do a little more research.
  7. Looks like my college room. I never had anything close to that kind of power, though. Very cool. I do remember thinking that sort of setup looked really really cool. Once significant others started entering the picture the big setups started moving by the wayside. Looking back on that it probably looked really silly with a 25in tube TV. By the way, they were all car audio subs and amps with voltage converters! High class all the way, one even connected directly to the receiver! Hey, it shut off the receiver every 2 minutes but who cared? Pass me another beer and reset the damn thing.[H]
  8. Which is why they're "user tunable." Best of both worlds. Frak601, don't let the SVS-haters shy you away from something you may want. Most of the SVS hate around the net is due to jealousy. Huge bass, little money; that makes them angry [:@] No little digital controls on top of the sub, no pretty plastic doilies glued to the front. Just bass. Isn't that just what you want anyway? The words above are definitely from sour grapes. "makes folks feel macho?" But...but...it's in the soundtrack. [:S] I'm macho because my system reproduces the material correctly? I'll speak to Mr. Lucas tomorrow and and demand he never makes another movie that you can't hear. []
  9. Like my Dad (one of those double-engineers- Doc will understand) used to say: "Pie are not square, pie are round" Ok, engineering humour isn't the best, I know. M I love nerd humor!!! I'm serious!!! When at NASA we had all sorts of ultra-academic jokes and limericks around. I love it!!!
  10. That's an unbelievable pic. I'm speachless. No words..... If the TV-12 is an F-150 then that's freakin bigfoot.
  11. I love that post. I don't know why. By the way, I know what you mean. After a certain point a pissing match is meaningless. For example, I own a handgun (Para-ord P12-45, my baby) and enjoy targets, small game hunting and ***** shooting. But I have no interest in becoming the next commando or signing up to be an A1 gunner.
  12. I, too, think you must be way overdriving your subs. Personally, I've got two drivers that I've used in both home and auto that I've pounded the ever-loving snot out of for almost 12 years...one did finally uncouple but the other is still going strong. Mind you, I never "over" drove them, I just took them to their audible limits. Never beyond.
  13. Uhhhh DOH and the Cornwall's are tiny maybe. Large mains deserve a large...sub. hook, line and sinker. thank you, folks. [H] Funny, two stars for you! [*][*] []
  14. More than will admit [] My PB12+2 like to hide in the corner. She's been known to fall sturdy shelves down to 11Hz. My brother was on his way up my driveway one day and said he could actually feel it in the concrete. []
  15. Hmmm... Only had one damage problem from FedEx and they took care of it. Mind you, it took 3 months of prodding and 2 inspectors on site to figure it out...but they finally paid it. It was over $4 grand but they reimbursed for the shipping, return shipping and the price paid for the item. One day a check from FedEx arrived and voila! I'm just trying to say don't be too negative about it. Give it a try and you may luck out.
  16. Not disagreeing. I'm fairly cartain the quality of this machine is on a standard above the PB12+2 it was compared to. As far as output goes it would be a matter of measurement...which I've not seen posted.
  17. The review you're speaking of was JL sponsored and subjective. The f113 incorporates a superwoofer, superamp and loads of shiny gadgets. For $2800 I would expect it to do such.
  18. I was curious of the quality and output of this machine and here's what I found. As far as comparing the igroove to its competitors, it beat them all very audibly. I personally demo'd them side by side with the Apple, Bose, and other front line competitors. I thought the Apple would be the victor, but alas the Klipsch came out on top in all of my categories (extension, loudness, quality and clarity). To be fair I played the same song with the same iPod settings for each setup. I was suprised at how badly the Apple fell short of my expectations, noting especially that this demo took place in an Apple store. I can't see how they'd sell any of these while placed right next to the igroove; they're half the sound quality at twice the price!
  19. I have no doubts that the ifi will probably have more bass output than the igroove, however they're slightly different applications. 20. I thought you were talking about my buddies and I after a particularly rough night of drinking [D][]
  21. Yes, you're right. Boasting about money and toys can be a very beautiful thing if interpreted positively. Just yesterday I told my boss that my ___ hung to my knees and he began to cry tears of joy. He was so proud.
  22. Ok, please explain what heavenly productive purpose a statement like, "I can shell 30K/year just on my audio habit.Without breaking a sweat" could possibly serve. By the way, just previous to that statement you uttered, "You know,my pockets are deep, funds ready when I chose to." just to reinforce your boasting. Yuck. Quality character at its finest.
  23. Blah blah blah. I wonder if a study has been done to determine the proportion of his material that's been productive versus detrimental. I have no problem with anything you've posted previously as I've since forgotten. It just irks me to hear day after day, "Look what I've got mommy! Hey friend, mine is always better than yours! My subs are the best! I've got more money than you and that's all that counts!" Can't you just post your material without the overcompensating attitude? It's like that little kid in elementary school with the loud mouth that always thought so much of himself before the day someone got sick of hearing it and simply pounded him. I guess those kind of people will always be around. Maybe you're right; I do just have to let it go and not read your posts.
  24. No, 260lbs is what I can bench, fine for someone who weighs 194lbs and never saw a gym.How much one benches is without much meaning, its how much GREEN you make in a year that counts. [] Its all about the GREEN if you know what I mean. PSSST Jay keep asking questions we both benefit from extending threads(ssssht adds to the post counter) That's the Kim Jong il syndrome; he made 3 holes-in-one the first time he ever played golf. Nice try Ear...but you aimed a little too high on that number. Actually, the more we learn about the mysterious Ear the more I tend to fancy the notion that he could be just a 13-year-old on mom's computer. I'm completely serious.
  25. If I were you I'd get rid of all the clutter you have laying around, save for a couple years then spend 100k+ on a dream theater (or listening room) and dump "subs" as a spending habit. By the way...I can bench press 315lbs without breaking a sweat. Grow up a little.
