  1. A very good chance of that happening outside of Hope, AR. Jim even describes getting to his place once you start hearing banjos.
  2. I never find cool stuff like that in a garage or estate sale. It may be because I'm not going to deal with the flipper vultures that swarm like great white sharks when the doors open. Still I would live to have a small lathe or even better yet a CNC.
  3. Back to San Antonio, from Hope, to lots of rain. Not as bad as Louisiana. Prayers for those guys.
  4. Good morning all. Not much news to tell. I'm almost finished converting a storage room off my garage to a gaming room for my grandson. His only little "man cave." Headed to Hope on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing friends, having some fun and not thinking about work for a few days.
  5. Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I lost my father when he was only 54 years old. The memories live on.
  6. I agree with Dtel's assessment. I joined here in December of 2003. Over the years my participation has varied, depending on what was going on in my life. I'm sure it is the same with many others. Then there is always the blow ups and hurt feelings that happen on any forum with more than one person. Some leave forever and others come back, after some time.
  7. Travis and I, along with our better halves, will be attending the 40th annual watermelon festival in Hope, AR next week. Anyone else going?
  8. Maplenoll air bearing table. A small compressor supplies 60psi to the tone arm and platter. The plinth is already custom in a combination of wood, aluminum, lead and Corian. The whole thing weighs in at 85 pounds.
  9. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. New forums, another Monday and I got another turntable. Life is good.
  10. Acceleration is really good and has instant torque but all that weight hurts it for autocross.
  11. And as not to alienate my internal combustion friends, I built a turbo Miata.
  12. The electronics. There are 18 batteries; 4 across the back, 3 on either side of the motor and 8 in the front trunk.
  13. Finished car done in hot rod black and a satin finish.
  14. Oh no..... The kids hate the shop...... My son wants nothing to do with fixing cars. I talk to my son about vehicle maintenance and repairs and his eyes just glaze over MKP :-) Started young with my son helping me. By his junior year of high school, he helped me convert a Porsche 914 to an all electric car. His reward was using it his senior year of high school.
  15. Maybe it is just meant to heat up your soul.
  16. Good luck and may the IT Gods be in your favor.
  17. Another worker bee getting ready to go home on this Friday afternoon. I will get in a 30 minute walk/run, a light dinner and then some scotch and tunes. I found out a fellow member of the River City Audio Society lives three blocks from me. He is bringing over a pair of subs for me to try in my main 2-channel rig. The old Velodyne finally gave in and now only buzzes.
  18. Very productive weekend. Mowed the front and back yard, trimmed the lemon tree, reversed the back door so it swings in the opposite directions, repaired a faulty lawn sprinkler valve, and met a fellow audio addict who was selling some gear. I'm set for now on gear so I picked up a Threshold FET 10 phono preamp for a friend ($40). One of those deals of a lifetime.
  19. A Kodak moment for sure. Making memories that will last a lifetime.
  20. Peeled shrimp, that's almost like cheating looks really good. We had about 20 people fly in from land locked states. We took pity on them, and peeled the shrimp before cooking. Normally we just cook it all, dump it out on some butcher paper and whoever can peel faster eats more.
  21. Spent the weekend at the coast and had a little shrimp boil.
  22. The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
