Bill ---------------- Bill, Likewise it was great to meet you in Indy. The AK-4 is a very nice network (I've only heard the ones at Klipsch last year and this year). For now I am content with the AK-3. I really wonder if Klipsch would have upgraded the K-horn to the AK-4 if they had not had issues with sourcing drivers? David

I would someday like to experiment with other drivers on the Altecs. If I do anything else in the near future it would be to try a tweeter upgrade. David

I've never looked up close. ---------------- The top photo is the new grill, the bottom is the stock grill. The stock grill is an integral piece with the K401 screwed to the back. The new grill is a "C" shaped framework covered in grill cloth that fits in the opening. It stays in place with friction only (a snug fit). Incidently, I did not fabricate these, they were already built by my friend Bob when I bought the horns. David
  6. "Properly rebuilt and with the right tweaks I bet not. If anything I would guess the low bass light be stiffer or more defined on the HK. The Scotts have stellar bass response from 100 Hz on up below that there slightly rolled or less defined but still the bass is very much there even down to 20hZ. Craig" ---------------------------------------- I have the HK430 and a NOSvalves 299D. While the HK430 is a very nice SS receiver, the detail, imaging, soundstage (you name it) is better with the 299D. I replaced the HK430 with the Scott as my main amp for my Cornwall system. Of course, a NOSValves rebuilt Scott is tighter and more dynamic than a stock Scott. When you consider that a good working the HK can be found for under $100, and a fully rebuilt Scott may cost $600-800, the HK is a great value, especially considering it comes with a very nice tuner built in. If you like your HK430, you will love a properly rebuilt Scott 299C or 299D. -David-
  7. "If this happens again next year i will do my best to be there." You will not be disappointed!
  8. The living room and Klipschorns (Altec 511b's behind those extra large top section grills).
  9. Somebody please clean the dust off of that Klipsch speaker!
  10. "Hey Seadog, stop taking those dang pictures and get over here and eat before it's all gone." (actually there was PLENTY of food!)
  11. Says Larry to the Klipsch engineers, "You see fellas, on your next speaker design, I think you should....."
  12. "Give me a 'K', give me an 'L', give me an 'I'......"
  13. "Hey, has anybody ever used one of these things?"
  14. Trey explaining the plans for Saturday morning (many cheers went up when he said we would start at 9:30 am instead of 8:00 am)
