  1. Eraserhead. Very creepy. Exorcist and Alien. But upon seeing them the second time, I couldn't figure out why they were scary the first time.
  2. My girlfriend is addicted to garlic, onion, and anchovy pizzas. My question is would I save money on my water bill if I bought a bidet instead of having to take all those extra showers?
  3. Thanks, but I think I'm getting a headache.[8-)]
  4. ESP, your point is well-taken. However, I would venture to guess that Klipsch is probably is giving you better service than most other similar companies. Not that that excuses what happened, but you have to shuffle in a little bit of reality too.
  5. Does anyone know of a good tutorial or how-to instructions for the best or proper way of grounding an external roof-mounted TV antenna? I want to ground both the transmission cable, and the mast, to protect from lightning.
  6. This dentist sounds like he doesn't know what he is doing, or doesn't care. I would find someone else who comes with good recommendations from people you can trust. And I wouldn't pay the first guy. Give him the crown back after you get it replaced with a good one. When they are as poorly-fitted as you have described, I would say that the dentist made a bad mold when he took the impression, or the lab technician who made it doesn't know what he is doing. Grinding down your real teeth to fit the crown kind of defeats the purpose of making the crown. And anybody would know that if it is obviously wider than the adjacent teeth, that that is not normal. There's nothing worse than a bad dentist. His attitude when you had to return says all you really need to know. If he has your money and won't refund it, file complaints and threaten to sue him for malpractice.
  7. Spybot, AVG, and SpywareBlaster will do the job for you. I have Yahoo but don't use their security tools. I find them ineffective and a drain on resources compared to better freeware software.
  8. Very interesting. I was in the Army in the 70's and remember getting at least one or two of those air gun shots. I remember on one occasion somebody bleeding from the wound caused by not having the gun completely flush and not moving when the medic shot him. But I had no idea that there was an epidemic of Hep C going around in the ranks of those shot though. If someone has Hep C is there anyway to connect it to a shot they got 30 years ago?
  9. All you need is a DSL signal, a DSL modem, and XP. IE7 is fine. AT&T pushes their crap so they can keep you looking at their commercials and redirecting your web searches (which slows down your connection) so they can collect commissions from their advertisers. It's a big scam. They suck. If you want to get the bloat off your system, here are some instructions: If you can't hack the uninstall, just wipe your disk and reinstall XP, but DON'T use the Yahoo disk they send out. Don't even put it in your CD drive. You don't need it for anything, and once it is exposed to your computer, you have escalated your headaches to the next level. 10. I have AT&T/Yahoo DSL service for my internet connection. I had heard horror stories about their browser and internet software similar to what you are experiencing, so I just skipped the installation of all their crap. My system runs faster and I don't get any weird "problems" for them to blame on M$ or someone else. You really don't need their bloatware for anything legitimate, XP has the capability of handling all of the internet traffic already built into it, and it's much faster and more reliable than AT&T's crap.
  11. The cone drivers in my RF3-II speakers are suspended by some kind of black rubbery material. I have had other speakers (Infinity & AR) that experienced dry rot of their cone driver surrounding material and eventually needed it to be replaced. Is there anything that can or should be done to help preserve and maintain this part of the speaker? Maybe some kind of preservative like that which is used on car dashboards or something?
  12. This is pretty strange: http://www.matthewroddy.com/mental/angry_face.htm
  13. I dunno who this is, but it's the only one I could find in Austin that might be a "CP": C Lyons 4907 Cana Cv Austin, TX 78749 There's also a CR, CN, CJ, and a CL Lyons in Austin.
  14. I think you need to go on the PP website and change your address to agree with what PP thinks is your 'verified' address. The seller is not covered by PP's 'seller protection' service unless he ships to your verified address, which is probably why he is not shipping.
  15. I ran across this in eBay's Paypal forum. This is why you should always use a credit card when paying for an eBay auction with Paypal. Some buyers who pay for their winning auctions with PP, but don't use a credit card, have been getting ripped off by some scam sellers. It's interesting because usually it is the seller who gets screwed by PP on eBay. Here's how it works: -- Buyer pays for their auction with PP account funds. -- Seller uses PP generated shipping label for USPS, which gives a number that shows the seller made the label and would be taking the item to the PO soon for shipping. -- Time passes, and after a week or ten days, the USPS email tracking info never changes from the initial "will be dropped off at PO" message. -- Repeated requests to seller by user email and eBay mail system for tracking numbers, etc., are ignored. After 2 weeks, buyer files claim for non-receipt of item with PP. Seller then immediately sends item via UPS with tracking number, and it arrives on time. -- Upon opening the package, the item is not what was expected, or the box contains worthless junk. The seller furnishes PP proof of delivery, and they settle the non-receipt claim in the seller's favor. However, since a buyer can only file one claim per transaction, and cannot change the claim type once it is filed, that is the end of PP's involvement in the transaction. This loophole can be avoided by using a CC as payment, since you can go through the CC issuer and file a chargeback.
  16. Saw Halley's Comet from the summit of Mt. Haleakala on Maui. Got there about 2 hours before dawn. Due to the lack of artificial lights and air pollution, it was considered one of the best spots on Earth to see the comet. It was cool, but not really dramatic as in "Oh, wow, look at it!" I fell overboard while whitewater rafting on the Reventazon (Revenge?) River in the rainforests of Costa Rica. At the time, it was considered a Level 5 rapids (6 is the highest, and considered unnavigable). I was in the soup for about 10 minutes, mostly underwater bouncing off big boulders and going over waterfalls. Just when I was totally exhausted and thought I was about to drown, some Danish guy named Lars pulled me into his raft. Beats the hell out of any roller coaster I've ever seen. When in high school, I won the state spelling bee. This earned me a one week trip to D.C. in June to compete in the national spelling bee, along with my English teacher (chaperone) and 2 other kids who came in 2nd and 3rd place after me. The day of the big contest (which was scheduled for 2pm), I decided to go to someplace across the river in VA where I was told I could purchase some serious fireworks, which were illegal back home. So I left the hotel about 9am, and hitch-hiked to some town (don't recall the name) and bought a briefcase full of M-80s, cherry bombs, etc. Well, this outing took longer than I had expected and at 1pm I was still in VA at least 30 miles away from the hotel, trying to get a ride. Just when I was starting to think it was hopeless, a black stretch limo pulled over and the passenger offered me a ride, which I gladly accepted. I told him what was going on and how I was trying to make it to the contest by 2pm, etc. Well, he said he would drop me off at the hotel, which was really nice. We were running about 15 minutes late, so I didn't know if I would make it there in time. He picked up the carphone and called someone and asked them to make sure the contest didn't start until we arrived. We got to the hotel about 2:10 and my teacher was standing in the lobby when the limo pulled up and I got out. I thought she was going to kill me. I walked into the contest, everybody staring at me, wondering what was going on, and then they began the contest. The guy was our ambassador to Japan. I've met a lot of celebs and VIPs, but the person who impressed me the most of all was the Dalai Lama. I feel very fortunate to have met him. But all of these incidents pale in comparison to the beating I got here from my 'trusting buddies' for sending out CDs late.
  17. Excellent, Ron! AFAIK, there is only one outstanding order left now, and according to USPS, it should be delivered Monday. Sure is quiet lately.
  18. Dallas. Hopefully they can find you today.
  19. Speakerfritz posted in one of the other threads that he has received his order. As far as I know, there are only 2 outstanding orders now. USPS is running late on both orders with respect to when they said the packages should have been delivered. One looks like it will probably be delivered today since it has made to the destination city. And the other seems stalled at a USPS shipping center for some unknown reason. If it is still there Monday I will try to find out what is holding it up, because it was shipped at the same time as the one I just previously mentioned.
  20. According to USPS, speakerfritz and frzninvt also should have gotten their deliveries by now. If not, let me know or I will assume you are OK. Tom
  21. Thanks, Clarence. That's rare praise coming from you.
  22. Thanks for the update Keith. Glad to hear you're good to go.
  23. According to the clerk you should have them by today.
  24. I just noticed that also. Your CDs, and ALL of the orders that were open were all shipped out this week. I would expect they should start arriving by today or Monday.
