  1. I want to know, would you have parked where you did if you were not trying to get the fortes in the house? I would claim them on the insurance and try to recoup some cost.
  2. Well, I am going to have to opt out for now. Not because of age but the WAF is almost non-existant. Even after explaining that I could pick these up and not have to pay shipping. She told me that until she gets new counter tops I am not getting new speakers. OH well, sharpen the mowing blade.
  3. Well, I use the Heresys for the rear surrounds and to be honest I have yet to really hear anything that really uses the rear surrounds. I do think they blend well, I just now thought about seeing how they sound as the surrounds. I like the Fortes. I think I am picking up some lascalas tomarrow. WOO HOO
  4. Hmmmmmm, makes me want to put a yagi in the attic.
  5. Well Trey that is longer than I will probably live or at least close to it.
  6. You do not really think about it until you start to purchase something, but something made ALMOST 30 Years ago? If I was to purchase Lascalas made in 77 how many more years am I going to get out ot them? (In your best guess)
  7. WOOOOO HOOOOOOO I am no longer a newbie but a CRAZY POSTER!!!!!
  8. so what happens when you hit 100 posts?
  9. My near term want is Lascalas. let me know where I can get them!! I will drive to pick them up in 9 weeks (ANYWHERE!!). Long term wants are Khorns and I will also drive to pick these up, during the summer. thanks for the help
  10. I would also like to get rid of the NEWBIE status, when does that happen?
  11. I just want cheap KHORNS, cheap SEX and good BOOZE!!! Not in any particular order!!!!
  12. Hehe, I just had my girls look at this and I hate to say that I laughed my butt off at their surprise. Kids are great though, because then they tell you that they have seen it before even though it scared the crap out of them.
  13. What? The wife does not accept whatever you bring into your house? The bigger the speaker, the more space to put crap on!! Anything to KEEP me home, hehe.
  14. I have tried but cannot figure our WAF, wife -----------factor? Translated into "how the B---- feels". Divorce me, just let me keep the Klipsch!!
  15. Well, thank you for the info. I live in one of those great neighborhoods that will not allow antennas on the roofs (Hey, the kids can walk to school and go fishing in a stocked pond right across the street, I had to give up something). So what about an FM tuner, would a better one give me better reception? I have read that the new recievers concentrate on 7.1, DTS and other things and skimp on the tuner portion. Anyone have better luck with a seperate FM Tuner? The is one on ebay for 30 bucks I may just give it a try.
  16. Thanks for the response. I guess I need to save for a tube amp, If I really do not hear much I guess I can sell it. Looking forward to the Arkansas gathering, I will keep a watchful eye out for the time and place. Anyone here from NW Arkansas that can let me borrow a tube amp for a week? I did some hunting here today and found no one that carries them.
  17. Wow just listened to a piano solo and the blend was AWSOME. I could not tell I had different speakers in the house it just FILLED the house.
  18. I know that I do not have my speakers located in the best position but I wanted to see what other thought. Because of the setup I have a Heresy sitting at the each end of a 12 foot "L" sectional. So to use a clock, one is sitting at 12 and the other 3 pointing into the center. While sitting on the sectional you can tell you are behind the speakers but they sound "OK" anywhere else in the room. Anyone else have a similar setup and what do you think, would I be better off putting them both close together angled at a 45 degree angle, In this room they are used for 2 channel.
  19. I have the Cornwalls set up in the living room as mains and the Heresy's set up in the kitchen/family room on the B side (move them for to HT for rear surrounds for movies). Pretty interesting when I play with both A and B speaker setup, since the rooms are right next to each other with a 6 foot floor to ceiling opening, I find myself walking back and forth often just to listen to the difference. My puter sits right next to the door so while sitting here I have one in one ear and one in the other. Biggest noticable diff is the lack of bass in the Heresys.
  20. I know this has been asked before but what or how can you truely hear the difference. What I would like to do is listen to a song a couple of times, leave the house and have someone replace with a tube amp and then let's listen again. But this is probably next to impossible unless I can find someone with a tube amp that would be willing to do this. Will I tell that much difference. There is only one place in the area (other than the big box, BB and CC)that sells stereo equip. and they do sell MacIntosh tube amps but I really do not want to spend 7k to get a little cleaner sound.
  21. I do not know if I want to spend the money on one of these right now since there is not a big cholce of music. WILL music go this direction?
  22. And how much did they cost? If you say "FREE" I would say I love the sound and the way they played and like I have done I would decorate a coffee can and call it your Jukebox money. NEVER spend change, put it in the can. DO NOT DIP INTO IT! Now find something you really want and slowly save for it while you are enjoying what someone graciously gave to you. Got a can on top of our system right now, have to put a quarter in to turn it on and we are saving for a SACD player.
  23. Well, I have just toyed with the idea of getting a TT, see other post I started about LPs. I would have liked to have all of the Imperial's albums but since you only have one I will pass. Thank you for looking and thanks for taking the time to come back to your hijacked thread.
